Which do you guys think would be the better car for resale value in the future, reliability , and also some road course track use. No Auto X just road course. Keep in mind this will be a daily and Ill be buying another EVO 8 soon in cash. Just need a car that will last about 5 years and resell easily afterwards. Keep in mind ive owned 6 evo 8s and 9s -_- . Just comparing these two. They are the exact same price for year and mileage. around 26-28

I own a 2008 evo x with 45k miles a d a 2014 Audi s4 with 50k. In terms of reliability both have been flawless (note both are bone stock and ive had the evo 10 years and the Audi 2.5 bought with 20k miles). I think a lot of audis bad reliability rep is from years ago a d their new 2.0 and 3.0 applications are solid. I agree evo will hold its value better but the Audi also has taken most of its hit already so it probably has a floor in the mid teens even 5 years from now. I think either are good choices.

The S3 seems to still sell in the mid 30s, which is surprising as you could get a 2015 S4 for the same money, so it probably has some ways to go still.
But an Evo 8 will I think be better for the track as it's lighter, more visceral, so you might as well have some comfort for a daily. With the X, you'll have a louder cabin, might have to upgrade the head unit, maybe even the seats, so you have to figure in those costs.

The Evo X of course. Luxury cars loose value like crazy.
Of course special models like S,M and AMG will hold the value a lot better.
The great thing with the Evo is if you purchase that GSR for 26k you
will probably be able to get 25-30k for it 5 years from now.
The S3 will be worth half.

Evo has the more sophisticated AWD system if that matters to you. I believe the S3 is the same haldex setup in the golf R which is vastly inferior to the Evo. I have driven a golf R in a race setting and it just can't induce the oversteer and power through corners like the Evo can. Handling isn't close either.
If that kind of performance is a non issue then both motors are equally tuneable. The S3 is a nicer car. The DSG in the Golf R/S3 is very quick and you can launch them easily.
I would not trade the Evo for an S3 personally, but I enjoy the autox and rallyx in the Evo.

Since it is a daily with an occasional track day, AND you buying an VIII later, I'd buy the Audi. They sound amazing, comfy...pretty nice. As for resale, it's a car, not a mutual fund. They are meant to drive, not an investment. But that's just me. I've never understood the stress of keeping miles off a car, resale value, etc. I buy cars to use and enjoy, only.
Back the sound of that 5cyl ..... Sexy..
