What is Omni boost?

Have this gauge on my AP that says Omni boost and I’m not sure if that’s a measurement from the map sensor? It’s reading a higher psi peak on that gauge than on my regular boost gauge. Omni boost gauge reads 27.8 psi, and boost gauge reads 20.18 max psi.

So questions are
am I losing boost? And what is Omni boost and where is it read from.

thanks.

Omni is a brand name for a 4 bar maps sensor that is popular as an upgrade on evo 10's. Most likely, the AP is showing what the simulated boost/vacuum value would be, in the event that you were using a omni map sensor. The boost value above is the value calculated by the AP, based on your factory 3 bar map sensor. The upper display is the one to look at. As long as you are running a stock map sensor, the omni value is of no use to you. Basically, a map sensor or manifold absolute pressure, is a sensor mounted in the intake plenum, that detects the level of pressure inside that manifold. It converts that sensed pressure into a voltage signal that is received by the ecu and interpreted. Based on that voltage, it is possible to know the pressure amount in PSI, and display it as a number. That is accomplished by using a mathematical formula where a specific voltage output from the map sensor is placed in a equation that results in a value that represents its specific PSI. Since the stock sensor is going to have a voltage output that differs from the omni map sensor, two different equations must be used in order to convert the voltage into PSI. Thats why you are seeing a value discrepancy between the two displays. Your car uses a stock map sensor, therefore the top display is correct. You arent using a omni sensor, therefore the bottom display is incorrect. You arent losing any boost, and there arent two values. Its simply a value for two different parts.

That was an amazing explanation thank you so much!
