Moving from Evo X GSR to Ioniq 5n
Moving from Evo X GSR to Ioniq 5n
I am considering replacing my stock 2014 Evo X (daily driver for 10 years) with an EV. The Evo X has been perfect: love the bucket seats, the suspension, the driving feel. But it's time to get a new car, if only for reliability.
Well not 100% the same, but I have the EV6 Wind AWD and EVO X MR (for 12 years, modded to the hilt). The electric platforms you are talking about here are QUICK but basically only in a straight line. It isn't necessarily the weight either (since that is LOW), but the steering and suspension is DULL and MUSH. They spring rates, valving on the suspension is the same as a LIMO it seems... And the steering is so numb your best off just turning on the autopilot (which is what I do all the time).
If you can keep your EVO then I would, as it is a completely different vehicle that doesn't really have overlapping experiences. The EVO is old school hydraulic DIRECT AND FAST FEEDBACK to the driver. The suspension is sharp and properly setup has the fastest response out there.
Hope I helped.

The model 3 performance is extremely hard to beat performance wise both in a straight line or in corners with good wheels and tires. Many, including my own are near the top of raw times at autocross events and they're not exactly slow on track. They're not for everyone but I would try to rent one and try it out for a few days before buying either car. The ioniq 5 will do OK on track and has some interesting gimmicks but it's much heavier and will be harder on consumables plus it will be missing some features the tesla has (driver assist, route plotting for chargers). It does seem like it has much better thermal capacity for flogging it at track days though. If you're not going to track it that won't make much difference though.
Funny enough I'm buying a 2014 Evo GSR as a toy and it will share driveway space with my model 3 performance which I daily and autocross. Good luck with whatever you end up with.
