How to turn off Daytime Running Ligths
Why would the owners manual tell you how to disable the DRL's???? If the manual tells you which fuse to pull I can't see how that voids anything. It is a fuse. Moreover, I suspect if you drive in to a dealer and they notice that and point it out it would be simple to tell them, yeah I pulled the fuse like the owners manual said. Done. Who cares?
ok, per the owners manual, you will need to access the fuse box in the engine bay, its the large black box on the drivers side. lift the lid from the front there is a small plastic latch. you will need to remove fuse # 13 this is the last fuse on the first row of fuses at the bottom of the box. it should be a red 10 AMP fuse. look on page 7-42 of the manual if you need a pic. but the bottom row of small fuses has only 13 in it. pull this out and presto no DRLs , I did test everything else and all seems to work fine. spaces for fuse 11 and 12 were empty. Hope this helps.

This doesnt work on Canadian Base model EVO X.....Tried it today..pulled the fuse out nothing happened. ..
look in your owners manual , its the section on headlights and fuses. should show you which fuse runs the DRLs. they are on a seperate fuse link than the headlight.
PS this doesnt work for EVO without HID. so you may not have the HIDs.

just for the sure fact that some peoples eyes at night can't determine the distance of some cars. Your eyes sometimes plays tricks on you. Plus it's not just the fact that people have lights on then more or less it being a factor of falling asleep or being drunk etc... If you're that worried about the cops seeing you then you have got to slow it down a little. I know how the Texas highways are and everything but speed can kill! Also you don't own a sports car you own a 4 door Saloon

rock on ricer!
i quoted because i am concurring with akumamax.
+1 I'm wanting to swap in some HID's but don't know how they will react with the half voltage running the DRL's normally...could you run with the headlights on all the time as a temp fix without disabling the DRL's? Thanks.
Coming from a fourth generation eclipse... we had the same issue. The DRL's worked in conjunction with the low beams. However, a solution was found by tampering with some sort of circuitry box if you will. Not quite sure what it is, but it worked beautifully. Tried looking for something similar for the X but no luck. I'm no electrical engineer by any means, not my field... so I will attach a link to the how to on removing the DRL's on a 4G Eclipse with the same low beam issue. Perhaps it will help someone else figure it out... one day.

For me, it has nothing to do with being spotted by cops, being more noticed, etc... it's the aesthetics. Personally, I think it takes away from the appearance of the car during daylight. For example, I'm sure many ppl here have shut their car off before taking a picture, just so they can get rid of the DRL for the shot.
As for the safety feature, I'm not trying to sound immature... but if you can't see a 2 ton 6 feet wide heap of metal heading towards you, then you really shouldn't be on the road, or crossing it. my 2 cents.
