My fastest time start to finish on a DSM (MUCH easier then an Evo and much more then a RWD) is 2.25 hours from pulling the car in and pulling it back out (without a lift).
On a lift, an Evo X is a (book time) 8-10 hour job.
Saying you've done a clutch swap on a RWD thus you think you can on an Evo X is like saying that you've disected a frog once in 10th grade but now you want to do spinal surgery.
On the clutch note, grab an ACT Xtreme clutch.

haha well i have started disembeling the tranny right now and no problems yet. but i do have a question. how do you disconnect the output shaft going to the driver side tire cus iv seen some pictures from speed clinic and the transfer case is still in place so is the a-arm, brake assembely on driver side. does the passenger side have to be removed?
There is a lot that you need to know to do it in an VIII and I would think that the X is similar. One good hint is to use a 10mm bolt (I forget the pitch) to screw into the drivers side stub axle to pop it out. I used a modified slam hammer that one of my sisters ex boyfrind had made to pop ignitions. It has to come out to pull the transfer case out. There used to be a good writeup on here for the VIII that showed what I am talking about.
I changed the clutch on my Evo several times along with EvoTexas' car. It was a royal pia considering I always did it without a lift. My Uncle in law has a lift now in his rather expansive garage so if (when) I do it on my X it should be easier, but not easy by any means. And it is a world of difference doing it on a RWD car compared to a AWD. Not even comparable...

I am doing mine now and it is being quite the little *****. I thought the 8/9 was easier and I was completely finished in the time it has taken me to just get the damn trans on the ground for this X. There is so much **** in the way.

any awd clutch is the worst to do, there is twice as much to do as there is for an fwd or rwd, take to a shop pr mechanic that has awd experiance, it may cost a buck or two but worth the time and money, plus that type of work is usually warrentied or garrented
I don't know anyone that would do that for $400-500. That would be like $30/hr. It is more like an $800-1200 job. I just finished up yesterday and it was just like doing an 8/9 with the exception of a couple mount bolts that were hard to get to. My release bearing spring was broken so it wouldn't come off. I ended up having to get a swivel and remove the pressure plate bolts one at a time through the case and pull it off all at once. It was a pain, but worked.
If you have done your old evo, don't hesitate to do this. It is nearly identical.
