I like mine, but I have noticed some fading. Just a slight fade. Doesn't look bad at all though. But I think I am more excited about wiring them on a seperate switch. I am prob just going to switch to HID's this weekend after payday But if you do it. I would remove them imo.

Yeah. If you remove them and sand them down, paint them, buff them/wet sand, and clear coat a few more coats you will be good to go. You won't have any chips or fading. If you have the time I would do that. I knew I was just going to replace with new lights or HIDs soon so I didn't put in to much effort.

I used a sheet of yellow 3m film I bought off my tint installer for $10. Cut the template and pasted it on. Looks as good as paint, protects the fogs, and I can take it off anytime.

That's a good idea. Much better than pain't IMO. I ended up removing my paint yesterday because of the red. I found I would almost never turn them on except to look cool and decided that was a little stupid. Plus when I am at the track I want to just have those on instead of having to turn my lights on when I circle back around. Trying to decide if I wanna waste the money on HID fogs or save it for performance... Most likely performance

SRT4 to evox,Thanks so much for the information. I got the red stain glass paint and did up my side markers and the rear brake light. The only thing I did different was to sand them first with 400 grit sandpaper. Now they don't stick out like they did from the factory. Everything is red!

any red or blue exterior lights are extremely likely to get you pulled over. Those are reserved colors for emergency vehicles and you can get tickets anywhere from just a fix it ticket to impersonating and officer... yea it sucks...

Paint thinner or nail polish remover will take the paint off.

***CAUTION*** Do not use Red or Blue on the front of your car. By law: Red in the back, white in the front.

The laws vary state to state, but in MA I got a $900 ticket for having 3 blue lights on the front of my car. I had an 02 Celica, and since back in 2004 I didn't know **** about mechanical anything, I use to add lights and all that civic bs. I had blue undercarriage lights, I had a blue neon in my front grill, and a blue neon in the hood scoop. They were solid lights (not flashing) and I still got pulled over for impersonation of a police officer. Imagine that, a Toyoto Celica Police car?? haha, ok, but whatever. I got written up for the 3 front blue lights @ $300 a peice!!! He didn't even charge me for the other 3 lights around the under carriage of the vehicle (2 sides, and the back) I fought the ticket, and got it revoked after proving to them I had removed the lights luckily.

As previously mentioned, Blue and Red are reserved for emergency vehicles. If you come across a d!ck-he@d cop, it's a stupid excuse to pull you over and harass you.

Green/purple/orange are supposedly ok, but I have had friends get pulled over for that too. Some cops go as far as to say that any modifications done to a motor vehicle are illegal, but eff that! I always have, and always will modify everything about my cars.

So this is just a heads up for those interested in changing the color. I guess changing the fogs isn't a big deal since you can turn them off when driving day to day, but I just wanted to inform people of how stupid 5-0 can be.

In my opinion, I say remove the fogs completely! I just ordered the RS ducts from japan so I can fill the void of having no fog lights. Removing them shaves over 5lbs from the car, increase air flow to useful components in the engine bay, and I think it makes the X look way more aggressive. The evo was made to dominate, not accessorize (imho).

Also, I saw some comments on painting the headlights. If you do this, be cautious because the cover is plastic. So it will not bond the same as the fogs. And you can't really remove it without having the paint thinner eat away at the lens cover thus making it cloudy, so be careful!

Good luck guys.
