IPOD on evo X

I have had/seen quite a few questions about how to connect ipod to a evo x that doesn't have the SSS package. This is for all of those guys. As well for anyone in canada that owns a evo X as well, since i own an evo thats from canada. This mod will give you the video/audio box that is located in the rear of the center console.

this mod is quite easy.

first order the part from mitsu. Part # 85927

then take the dash apart and take your stereo out. See how to install nav in a non nav evo x if you don't know how https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=324696

After the deck is out reach into the hole where the deck use to be. The connector you are looking for is connected to be back of the cubby hole. Unplug connector.

Now the next part can be easy or hard all depends on what you want to do. I removed the whole center console between the passanger and drivers seats. I did this so i can remove the cubby hole out of the car and bring it into the house. Or you could just cut out a hole on the spot.

here is a pick of how to remove the center console and the dash

1- 2 take out the cup holder. before you do that pull out the little holder... looks retangular and you can only put cell phone in there or ipod. It pulls out right out. be carefull there is a electrical connector hooked to the back of it. Disconect electrical connector and then pull cup holder out. Its a little hard to pull out but it pops right out.

3 turn out the shifter handel counter clockwise. i counted the amout of time it spun cause i like to have the exact tightness again when i put it back on. but you don't have to be **** like me.

4 take the 1 screw oput and then the shifter consol should pop out.

5 - 13 i beleve that there was only 5 screw holding #10 in. There is one that is connected to the middle of #10 and then there are 2 that are connected to #12 and the last 2 you have to open up the arm rest and they are at the bottom there. once you have those out it the whole center console comes out.

Once all that is done make sure that the 2 screws above the HVAC controls are removed and then the HVAC console should come right out. It took me QUITE a bit of force to pull it out. BE VERY CAREFUL when pulling it out there are 4 tabs. one at each corner. i didn't pull it out evenly and kinda bent the tabs a bit. was not really a problem i had to bend the plastic back when i had to put everything back together. Once it's out there are 4 screws at the back take those out. and now you can cut the box and fit the A/V box in. connect the cable that was connected to the back that you just cut out and have fun with your new MOD. Hope this helps.

Good mod. However I was able to do this by buying the headphone jack from radio shack and connecting it to the input wires in the harness. Total cost $3. Total time 30 min.

Dido about the headphone wire. One end with headphone jack, and one end with an RCA jack works just fine. I even had one lying around, so it really cost me $0 and about 30 seconds.

No this only plugs into the 3.55mm headphone input, it doesn't actually dock/connect to the iPod from the bottom connections
