You should consider mass producing this and selling them. You could make a lot of money. This is very good work. I congratulate you.

the one with the gauge looks like it is recessed into the housing. is there some kind of bezel around it, or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

The gauge spot has a "hood", which protects it from glare.

Is that what you're referring to?

That is the prototype X dash. It's actually a lap time guage.

Same deal, the pillar flips up and the curtain airbags deploy down. They arent there to stop you from moving forward or anything, theyre there to keep you from busting your head on the side-windows and what not. So mounting them on your a-pillar isnt going to be a bad deal. Its not going to blow that plastic panel back in your face, if anything itll blow it into the windshield long before itll come towards the driver. Think about it, the curtain goes down and unfolds forward, towards the windshield. Not backwards, in your face.

Also...found this interesting. Its on Yahoo under the slideshow for the 08 Evo. Note the boost (?) gauge on the top dash.

What kind of mount is this? I really only "need" a boost gauge and that seemed like the best place to put it where it wouldn't block anything. Another option was the ashtray but that isn't in plain sight.

_Chris_ is your Defi gauge blue or white? I thought you had previously said it was white but it definitely has a blue tint going on in the above pics...
