COBB AP placement thread
So I want to see how everyone with the AP is mounting them (if you are, some people just unplug them) so lets see some pics and i'll have mine up after i make my trip to Surgeline.
Thanks all
Thanks all
Im interested in seeing them to. Im a little worried about kicking the OBD port though and breaking with the AP plugged in though getting in and out of the car. Ive been trying to figure out a place though. Be nice if Cobb would make some kind of mounting brackett

Yea thats what I'm saying. But i think we are actually a little lucky cause our OBD port isn't directly under the steering wheel like most i have seen are. And my buddy with an STI did break the part that plugs into the ODB getting in and out of his car but you can just buy a replacement...lame though

I have mine mounted in the same spot. I have the usb wire coming from the OBD port to underneath the steering wheel. When I am done I just hang the wire on the windshield wiper control arm.
Yes, I'm concerned about this as well... I already had a problem with my first dongle... not sure what it was, but it worked the first night (but fit somewhat loose)... left it in the car overnight, and when I tried it the next morning, it didn't work... Luckily Shayne @ Cobb went out of his way to arrange a replacement for me...
Nice but I think i'm going to try and move the OBDII port so I can have the AP hooked up and out of my why I just need to see how hard it will be to move the OBD and I need to get a new AP for the one I just got was bad from the start
I had one in a IX for a little while, I would suggest that you buy a second USB cable and pull out one of the trim pieces so you can run the wire through the dash. I had mine zip tied to various pieces inside the dash so it would not rattle, with an end poking out at the OBD and the other end through a gap. I used the double sided, quick release tape that is packaged with the removable clothes hooks they sell at ACE hardware. It has a tab to pull to remove it and there is no residue, but it holds very strong. Mine held no problem at the track in 100+ degree weather for several days over the summer. I built a quick release holder later that came through the hole where I removed the battery gauge (out of a hacked clothes hook, it was hidden so actually did not look ghetto) but I don't think the X has the extra gauges so I don't know where you would put it. But the tape is good because you don't have to put a screw or anything permanent on the AP so it is easier to sell later.
