It's the ACD system that needs bled, which is a different fluid than the transfer case. I think that stuff is just power steering fluid.

ACD uses Diamond ATF (automatic transmission fluid). I don't think the system needs to be bled for a normal fluid change because you actually only drain the fluid from the rear differential AYC torque transfer mechansism (about 0.55 quarts). I don't think there is a procedure to drain the whole ACD system (which uses 7 quarts ATF). Maybe you only drain the whole system if you replace the ACD?

so just change the fluid like you would if you were changing the oil in the motor? No need to bleed the system?

Bump. Anyone has any ideas. Local dealer charges $175 just for the transfer case fluid exchange.

This guide is correct, and you can change the fluid just like you would change your oil. It should not be necessary to bleed the system if you are just replacing fluids.

There is no bleeding involved when changing the transfer case fluid. I have asked a Mitsubishi Tech, the tech replied the bleeding is for the ACD. It's a simple DIY when changing the gear oil.

I used Amsoil for the tranny, for transfer case and rear differential, I used the Diaqueen for Mitusbishi.
