From what I've heard, stick to OEM diaqueen LSD gear oil for the transfer case and rear diff to be extra safe. I put amsoil mtg in my transmission, but so far have not noticed a difference in shifting smoothness compared to OEM. It supposedly can handle more intensive driving though.

Should the rear axle(diff) fluid be changed around the same time(at 15k)?

I did them all at the same time (15k is technically early, but I wanted to get all the breakin fluids out). Note that the rear diff has two parts - one takes LSD gear oil, the other takes Diamond ATF SP3. There were much fewer metal shavings on the rear diff drain plug compared to the transmission and transfer case.

I went ahead and also changed out the rear diff fluid(LSD) at 15k. The Diamond ATF SP3(torque transfer) still looks clean. I wait til 30k on that.

Easy process

AMSOIL MTG 75w 90 on the tranny
Diaqueen LSD Gear oil on transfer case and rear diff.

Feedback to come...

Funnel/hose combo works great for getting new fluid into tranny

The easiest way I found to get the new fluid into the tranny is a nifty clear funnel with a clear 1/2" diameter hose attached to it that I bought at Pep Boys. The funnel includes a handle, screen filter and twist valve to close and open it.

It works great with a couple of modifications. I added a matching extension hose to provide enough length to thread the hose from the top of the engine bay down to the tranny fluid pour opening. I use a set of vice grips to attach the funnel handle firmly to the hood prop rod in order to free up my hands and easily pour the fluid into the funnel.

I tried the funnel today on my transfer case fluid change and found I needed to attach a smaller diameter hose (3/8") to the half inch hose to get the fluid into the transfer case. The 1/2" hose works for the tranny but when inserted into the transfer case the hose backed up against components inside the transfer case which prevented the fluid from flowing in. Using the smaller 3/8" hose I was able to tuck it into the transfer case away from the components so the fluid wouldn't back out until the case was full and fluid began to pour out of the opening.

Does anyone know what sizes are required for taking off the fill and drain plugs?

Most of these questions can be answered by your friendly owners manual found in the glove box, just in front of the passenger's seat. Open to index and find maintenance, should specify fluid capactiy(it does) kind of like where he uploaded those pics from. That owner's manual is key

mitsubishiparts.net sells a gasket kit for a lot less than $67 that will have all new crush washers for all the drain plugs.
