Angry wastegate forge problems

hello i bought the forge waste gate with 15psi spring, when i installed it i adjusted it out to where it slid on rather freely to valve, 1st and 2nd gear are great, but when im in low boost in 3rd or 4th i get a surge, and the engine light comes on, im not sure what the problem is, im debating going back to stock wastegate and get my 200 back because of hassle, am i doing somtrhing wrong? i played with alot of adjustments tightning and loosing a couple turns still same issue, i havnt hooked up mbc yet will that help or make it worse

Man i went with the mbc, ebc, bov, pipe this and that and found out that my first mod should have been the AP (cobb). I found this guy on ebay that sells them for 605 620 to your door. trust me its the best starting point. not cone filters uicp, licp, mbc bla bla.

since no one answered your q, i'll take a jab and say that it's most likely due to the system detecting overboosting and thus throwing a cel. you WILL need a tune with an uprated WGA to see full potential and get rid of potential bugs.

the best way for you to adjust would be to install it so it has zero tension/preload (perfect fit), then preload it by tightening 1/2 turn. that's with a red spring though, i'm guessing yours is a blue spring, so you may want to go with a full turn at the least.

why did you go with 15psi, may i ask? if you want to hold boost better on the midrange, you'd want it to hold the amount of boost close to the spike limit. 15psi isn't bad, but you won't see as good a midrange as, say, a red spring which comes stock from forge.

Take that thing off of your car before you blow your engine like the other two people I have read about over boosting with no tune!! Put the stock one one and pay for a tune there is no need for a forge wastegate on your car.

No surprise here...It's pretty easy to spot people who have never driven turbo cars in the past (or at least don't know how to modify them).

Get a tune and don't just throw parts at the car.

Well, the HKS actuator is 100% safe to run on a stock tune. So give this guy a break. And by the way, most people do not get tuned as their very first mod. Unless of course you're a professional tuner. Or have money to waste to get retuned for every part you add.

Yea but you also just dont throw abunch of parts on a car and drive it hard and plan to get tuned later. You plan things out and do it all at once.

yup, picked this up and installed. You need to get it tuned. Otherwise, you will never get the optimal boost settings...

Sits back in his chair at work and wait to hear about injenevox blowing his motor up due to overboost with NO tune. Not smart what you are doing.

If he has no tune, then he will run rich with low timing and boost cut. You'd be hard pressed to damage your engine under those conditions.

The preload on the wga and boost settings do not appear to be setup correctly.
