Boost gauge question

Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum, well I'm new to the whole Evo thing.

Here's my question! I'm trying to get a boost gauge and I don't want to void the warrenty on my car, just picked it up 2 weeks ago. But I was doing so research and found that the evo 8 had a stock boost gauge and I was wondering if it would fit in the X and more importantly will it void my warrenty? Seeing as it is from Mitsu. Anyone have experience with it?

Thanks in advance!

If the way you wire your gauges stems to electrical problems then you will have no electrical warranty.

Cause I called a few days ago and asked if I put a gauge in would it void warrenty and they said yes! I don't understand why mitsu didn't come out with a gauge for the X, if they had it for the older model why not for the newer ones.

Dude, for example: Say your transfer case blows, Mitsubishi can't void your warranty on your transfer case if you installed a boost gauge unless some how some way they can prove your boost gauge caused your transfer case to blow.

It was never stock on the Evo 8, it was a dealer installed option.

This is probably personal opinion only and for what it's worth, I don't understand the fascination with boost gauges. Never had one on my Evo 8, not planning on getting one for my 10 either. The ECU takes care of the boost and on the dyno, the dyno operator ignores it and uses the dyno's built in boost gauge.

Lowkey,

Whats the purpose of any gauge? Instant feedback, bling factor, monitoring, etc.

Boost gauge is a good thing if you play with boost control! but that will void your turbo and engine warranty!

Mitsubishi would still have to prove the boost gauge was the cause of either turbo failure or engine malfunction, you just can't say Mitsubishi will void your warranty.

X2....They have to prove it. Have facts on paper that says "THIS CAUSED THIS." If they void your warranty for something as small as a boost gauge, i smell law suit. Thats just what I would do. I dealt with stupid crap like that from VW eventually found a dealer 2 hours away that didnt care what i did to the car as long as it wasn't NOS or some stupid crap like that. I just traded my 08 GTI for a 2010 gsr a week ago and my dealer said even a CAT BACK exhaust will void warranty. but really dealers will do anything to void your warranty when it isnt up to them to do it. If your dealer throws a fit about it, find another one, call around, I'm sure there are some dealers that don't give a @#$%.

I have a boost gauge installed amoung other mods, took my X into the dealership to take care of the recalls and replace my blown daytime running light. I was excepting to pay for the light, they told me it was covered by the warrenty. I think dealerships tell you it will void the warrenty just so you dont mod your car.

The 8/9 stock gauge doesn't go high enough. You want one that shows up to 30 psi.

Also, like JDW said, they can't void your warranty for a boost gauge.
