Hood cable replacement

So my hood cable rusted out and it got so hard to open the hood the latch broke and frayed the cable along with it.

I have the new updated cable with rubber seals to prevent rusting but replacing seems to be a pita. I've tried following it the best I can and it seems it goes right in the fender to a real low part of the firewall un-accessible from the engine bay.

Do I have to remove the fender to replace this cable or does anyone have any tips on doing this? Any help would be appreciated it... I really rather not remove the fender as Im not a bodyguy and putting that thing back on straight will never happpen...

It's been so long since I did it, but you definitely don't have to remove the fender. I think removing the front driver wheel may help. Do you have the PDF with step by step directions that Mitsubishi gave to its techs? That's pretty easy to follow. Although it took a bit longer to do myself, it wasn't hard.

Instructions here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mi...-ralliart.html

Took me a little over an hour I think (or possibly two as I take my time)...

Thanks for the link.

Once I took off the fender liner (only had to pull back half of it by the way. saved loads of time) it was super easy.
