Dynamat? Doors or Trunk?

Anyone have a DIY for installing sound deadening material in the doors, trunk, or the roof of our cars? How complicated could either of those installs be? I'm afraid of removing pnaels and breaking clips, so I'm wondering if I can do this myself

For removing the door panels, you can follow one of these how-to's..

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...im-pieces.html

If you're deadening the doors for car audio purposes, you'll probably want to seal them first by using either the available OEM hole covers, sheet metal or a stiff sound deadener to close up the larger openings (or a combination).

Found a list of part #'s for the hole covers (all four doors) & any needed screws or clips (think the 2 part numbers with dashes are Alpine spacers)..

Couldn't I just dynamat the entire door and in turn have the holes filled by the dynamat?

Yeah, that would probably work as well. Think it's just more ideal to use a stiffer material to fill in any of the larger openings before applying dynamat.

If that was from one of the how-tos, it's probably referring to one side or the other of the door panel you'd need to remove (the part you see when you're inside the car, that has the door handle and window buttons).

Not only does this cut off noticable outside noise, the speakers playing off the dynamatted doors sound more solid.

I know cause I first dynamated the doors, then went on to dynamat the trunk and floors later. The subwoofer was then hitting much harder and the exhaust noise from the muffler was drowned out further. The sound stage was much clearer by this time without outside noise interfering.

I have a 2010 lancer sportback, similar doors.

I just got my doors done, inner and outer skin, and it is a noticeable difference. The music is more direct and enjoyable and no rattling from my sub either, sounds like the sub hits tighter too. I plan on doing my floor and rough next.

Has anyone used Dynamat Hoodliner? It can reduce engine noise and heat, any thoughts?

Not a worthwhile investment, sound from engine will escape other places, and really doesn't help with noise in cabin. Any sound it dampens outside the vehicle will get lost to the sounds of other vehicles outside.

Before you do that, click on the link below and read every page. You'll know more about this subject, and how to go about the project intelligently, than 99.99% of the folks who discuss it:
