You really dont have to. I left mine the way it is. Only thing is you will now need to give a little effort to close the trunk since its lighter than oem trunk + wing.

If you used to have the high wing try using 1 damper. As soon as you release it from the lever under the seat the trunk will come up flying. The best IMO is get the damper from a regular lancer with or without the low wing or the damper with an evo with the low wing. These dampers ARE different as they are not as strong as the dampers from trunks with high wings.

I did not have to change mine and I used to have the high wing. It never came up flying, but like I said now I have to put a little effort pulling down the trunk since its light.

tension from those springs is tighter than most people think. i had a CF trunk on my WRX and when i removed it the thing damn near went through the rear windscreen.

-open trunk
-lay towel across rear glass to set each side of trunk lid on as you take it off
-unbolt one side, set it on the towel
-unbolt other side, set it on the towel
-take old trunk lid and set aside
-revers process with new trunk

You can remove the trunk lift arms by using a little flathead screwdriver. There's a black clip on the bottom of them. When you pry it backwards, it pops off and allows you to slip the lift rod off of the coupler.

I have the VIS Demon as well, and I only use one of the lift arms now

perfect, no gaps.

if you get a "VIS Trunk" and it has gaps or finish issues, it is fake. Always buy from an authorized VIS Racing dealer or from VIS themselves.
