Drop the subframe. The fsm doesnt call for it but it makes the job so much easier.

It takes an extra few minutes and makes the job a ton easier. We always do it.

Subframe that sits under the engine/trans and holds the steering rack. Unbolt the rack from the subframe, support the rack with some bungie cords, and drop down the subframe. It makes the job so much easier.

Your rack and pinion steering is mounted to the subframe. Remove 1 small heat shield to access 1 of 3 rack and pinion bolts. unbolt rack from subframe and 2 bolts securing steer line. Now you can remove 4 bolts securing subframe and move out of the way. Don't need to completely remove.

Yea I should have clarified. I drop it down and let it hang. You don't need to completely remove it from the car.
