I am not positive but I guess as long as it uses the newer socket it should work.

I ordered it today.
I'm fairly positive it is just a newer version.

Once I get all the parts in the mail and do the install I'll report back.

I'm going to use 1 of them for sure. The second one I'm not sure about.
If I don't wind up using it I'll contact you.
They are rather easy to come by.

I actually asked for a free sample directly from TE. I had to register an account, I used my work address, and create a project title. They sent them next day, it was nice.

I'm an engineer and am comfortable ordering engineering samples like this. If you are not comfortable with that methode, just search around a bit. I found the connector in-stock at one website and the pins in-stock at another.

Mouser.com
Digikey.com
OnlineComponents.com will have more 3/17/17
Newark.com
Powerandsignal.com has them in-stock

I finally got this mod to work, but had some trouble getting there. I have one note for everyone:

The pin numbers are all based on the FEMALE side of the connection. Don't use the pin numbers on the connector. If you are looking at the female side of the connection, the count starts top - right to left, then down a row, and right to left again. So this means the male connector (the one you have to move all the wires to) is read from the back as if it was plugged into the female connector.

Good luck! It works great!

PS Pull you radio fuse or battery cable before messing with the plug. I blew my fuse when the red/white wire touched ground. OOPS

Yes. I would suggest getting the newer part numbers as they can be updated with the latest firmware for better connections. I got the 025 model and it has SW 8.0.0, so my BT Audio cuts out from time to time and I don't know if it can read my iPhone's music over USB.

Awesome thanks for the update.
I am going to try to attempt mine this weekend.

Have any pics of the wiring pin outs?

I don't intend to cut my factory Bluetooth connector but rather just remove the pins/wires and reinstall them in the new 28 pin connector.

I popped up the plastic lock going across the bottom side of the plug and used a sewing needle to free the metal pins from the front.
The first one was a bit tough until you understand how to release them but then it's very easy.

I didn't take any pictures (sorry), but just remember that the pin #s are L->R looking at the FEMALE socket. I wired mine with the pin #s reversed the first time, luckily it didn't ruin my BT module. You'll need 22 AWG wire (~0.3 - 0.5 mm^2) for the three new wires. On my plug the Black/White wire is the "Mass" wire in the pdf from page 1.

I also took the time to remove the pins, just popped the lock bar up and used a flattened needle in the small slot above the pin to release the pins. It's well worth the effort. Be careful not to ground the Red/White wire unless you like replacing fuses.

On my pigtail I have right now I have.

28 pin connector.

Slot 28 is solid green with silver dots.
Slot 27 is pink / yellow stripe
Slot 26 solid black
Slot 21 brown / grey dots
Slot 20 solid green.
Slot 16 solid purple.
Slot 15 red / white stripe.
Slot 14 solid red
Slot 13 red/white stripe
Slot 7 yellow
Slot 1 black with red stripe.

This male pig tail may have come out of a newer outlander so I am hoping that the wires used are similar to the other pig tail that came out of a 2012 Evo X that should be here this week.
I will compare them when it arrives.
