A GSR without the SSW package will have Halogen headlights standard, which use a reflector instead of a projector. So, they will be a great deal of difference.

My 2004 STi had halogen headlamps with factory HIDs and the visibility was pretty good... not as good as projectors or retrofits, but a lot better than most cars.

The GSR does not have projectors. If you see an evo 10 with projectors, it has HID's

I believed it's the same block that the Dodge Caliber uses. Except that the Caliber is already STROKED from the factory. [2.4 liter, to be exact. (Imagine dropping the Evo X Mivec head on it)].
