Run hrm, double strips of these and you'll probably get a viable foglight replacement. That'd be 12 x 2, 1W Luxeon LEDs. 20 Lumens a pop x 24? 480 Lumens per side. Hrm, maybe not enough light...If only they had 3W or 5W Luxeon LED strips, or K2's in a strip. That'd do it, underdrive the K2's at 100Lumens/piece. A strip of 12 would be 1200 Lumens...definately beginning to be bright enough for fog light replacement.

Oh the joys of being an electrical engineer...

Those led's suck in brightness... If you want some real high powered LEDs get some Cree Q5's or R2's... They are 3 watts and put out like 220-280 lumens or so and put out about 100 lumens at 1 watt.. 1 line with 6 or 7 would equal to that setup with those outdated luxeons... If you want some really bright ones get like 5 Soeul Semi P7's.. up to 900 lumens each and only a few mm bigger.. It would be brighter than your headlights Only problem would be keeping them cool while maintaining the style..

BTW if anyone plans on trying to use any 1watt or high led, make sure you learn how to power and heatsink them if you want them to last more than a few seconds

Ah the joys of interning at a LED manufacting company...

Looks awesome! I love R8 lighting and LED custom mods.

www.cincitydesigns.com has lots of pictures with custom LED work (check the forums there for TONS more pics). Took this pic from the CiN website of the HIN booth this past Sat in Orlando FL.

OP- Mod looks great BTW! I LOVE it! Did something similar for my Denali which can also be found on the CiN website.

I actually explored using the actual AUDI lights, but they will not fit unless you HEAVILY modify the bumper. Our openings are 10" at best in length. Those lights are closer to 19" WAY tooo long

I also measured both, but with deep pockets you can do anything. I think these would def look sick, just a matter of someone doing it. It will be interesting to seee how to mount these to the bumper.
