question about side wind deflectors

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but i just got side wind delfectors installed in my x, and it seems like they are almost useless... Sitting inside the car, i can barely see half an inch of the deflectors, so i can barely open my window in the rain. i had side wind deflectors on my family car, and they allow me to open the window a good 2 inches at least. I looked at the profile of the deflectors, and they are attached to teh top of the door, not right above the window. Did the dealer install these in the wrong place, or are these actually not very useful on the X?

Added pics on a lower post.

Sorry I just wanted to use that icon for something. Post some pics so I can see if they're properly installed.

Weren't these originally intended for smokers to get ventilation while avoiding the wind?

if you had OEM wind deflectors they must have installed it incorrectly. looking at mine there is about an inch of gap between the top of the door frame to where the wind deflectors are.

if it is OEM there is no way for them to install it all the way to the top of the door frame mainly because there are a couple of clips on each wind deflector and it will not go all the way up there so to speak unless they did not install the clips and just put them on with the double adhesive tapes.

here are the pics... they dont seem "clapped/screwed" on..it seems like they used double sided tape. (sorry for the camera phone quality) so is this correct?

agree with the rest of the posts here. if this is OEM then they didnt install the clips that go underneath the door window frame. the OEM does come with double adhesive so thats what they used to install those.

you can clearly see from daniels red X that there is about an inch from the top of the door frame to the wind deflector.

okay you are right and I am blind, those are definitely not properly installed. It looks like your dealer got lazy and decided to just stick it on instead of using the clips to attach it. Take it back and ask them to do a proper job
