Stage 1 EVO X in China: Run-in Period

I have got the X for 2 months already. Having said that, due to the time for getting the license, Stage 1 mod and lots of biz trip around year end, it is now only 700km still half way through the run-in period.

So while the weather is good during the weekend I cannot wait to do another round of photo gallery just for sharing.

First of all, I really like the "Gundam" look of X which was my favourite animated series when I was young. I like the VIII and IX as well but I just look too old to have one.

The 09 version has a lot of chrome features, in front grill, side window, gear box console, etc. I just don't think it fits EVO's style. So I either painted them in black or covered with CF stickers to make it look cooler.

The Ralliart CF front tip looks good. I also cancelled the fogs to fit the two Ralliart CF intake ducts. There is also a Ralliart front grill and on top of it I fixed a HKS Kansei tow hook to make it more GT car look.

I like the Euro-type license plate stand very much!!

Here are the COLT SPEED aero wiper blades. Also see the DEFI meters. Above that there is the RALLIART CF mirror cover.

HKS Kansei CF intake duct.

Having other small parts painted black as well.

The outlook of my X has referenced to JUN factory car (yellow one) as to the "Golden Triangle" combination, i.e. the JUN CF bullet mirrors, ADVAN RZ metallic black wheels and the controversial SARD Fuji GT wing.

This pair of mirrors has stunning look and great finishing. There are also two triangular CF plates to fit the front part of the mirror consoles. The adjustments are done over the screws on top of the mirrors as well as the cords underneath. Totally manual and visual only covers 1/3 of stock ones so you really need courage and road experience to try it, esp under the crazy road condition in China.

RALLIART CF B pillar.

The Ralliart tail light set becomes stock in 09 version, which looks good on WW.

The mid-tail pipe is upgraded to HKS LEGAMAX. Sound much better than stock but still not enough for me. Should be much better after I put up the front pipe and sport catalyser later.

The controversial Sard GT Wing!! They have two sizes 14XXmm and 17XXmm. Considering the 18XXmm width and the JUN factory car set up I have chosen the latter one. Hamn it looks really BIG in the first sight but soon or later I find it just perfect fit to the side of X and my "Golden Triangle" combination. I just loving it!!

There are 3 angles for adjustment: street mode, highway mode and race mode. This CF wing is really light about 1/5 of stock's weight. It also improved the rear vision a lot as the stock one basically blocked it completely.

Here it comes the visual impression of the "Golden Triangle" combination. I love it!!

The car is lowered by the OHLINS DFV. This expensive suspension set with unique design has very balanced performance. In slow motion it is even more comfortable then teh stock Bilstein/Eibach set. For bumpy roads it handled very well. In highway it performs hamn rigid and fits very well with the Cusco anti-roll (see below) to give you 100% confidence in "Z" moves.

ADVAN RZ is 18" x 8.5J ET31. I know it is not aggressive enough but considering the road condition here in China I would stick with this for the time being. The Dunlop Sports Z1 is truly value for money and performs much much better with superb grips even in wet condition comparing with the crap stock SP600. The nuts and value guards are from COLT SPEED. Recently found the ADVAN wheel cap to make them looks even more sick.

Here comes the engine room.

The intake system is upgraded to HKS Ramair one with also the pipe behind. SSQV sounds great!!

CUCSO tower bar.

COLT SPEED bonnet damper is amazingly fit WW X.

CUSCO struct bar and anti-roll.

CUSCO rear tower bar. Also see the black adjusting units for OHLINS.

Much better interior than IX. The DEFI controller is on the bottom right while the HKS turbo timer on top of the steering wheel.

RALLIART pedals.

stick knob and handbrake.

RALLIART CF air-con console.

Leather rubbish bin from Tokyo Autobas.

The interior of 09 version looks really ok to me.

Nice RECARO!! X has much spacious interior room which is a plus for a family man like me.

Ok for now and look forward to my Stage 2 after the run-in.

As usual your car looks nice! I also thought the X resembled a Gundam and I stuck a Zeon decal on each fender. Will post pics when I get a chance...

BTW, the Colt Speed one looks even sick!! I passed it because it may not fit the HKS stuffs I tried to put in elsewhere. Also, it uses the K&N cone which compares with HKS may have better low-end torque but not impressive high-end power.

Nice pics..
Looks like youve been having some good weather, over in Shanghai.. I wish I could ship my Viper safely, and legally over to China. If I could. I wouldnt mind retiring, and living there. And Hangzhou would be the place..
