Thanks man.

So if you cover the Navi antenna your navigation will not work when the car is moving? Can you please confirm? Thanks.

I don't care about the Sattelite radio. My main concern is the navigation. Thanks.

archie, there is no connection between the nav and the larger antenna base. the nav's own satellite is inside your dashboard. it is attached by 2 screws suspending it on top of the nav. the larger antenna base is for the sirius satellite radio. i likewise dont care about the sirius satellite hence when i get my VG from the UK i will be replacing the antenna base to that of the base X models.

just finished helping a friend putting the VG on his X, it didn't have that gap problem, we cleaned the roof surface with alcohol swab, heat up the surface with a heat gun where the double sided tapes are, so it will stick better, weather is not that great here today, line up the front where antenna goes first and finished up the rear section where the rear window last, really simple. I think you might of placed the VG too close to the back window or the surface was not clean when you did it.

Ouch, that VG fitment is rough. That would annoy the living hell out of me.

I know what you mean. It's supposed to be a 10 min job including prepping time, if the parts fit like they're supposed to. I washed the roof with Dawn to remove the wax and then I cleaned it with Alcohol. I installed it 3, that's right 3 times with no luck. As your friend tomorrow if it lifted and see what he says. I did the antenna area first by the way, then I did the front and finished with the back. Everything is fine until you push down the back center piece right behind the antenna. Then the front lifts up. I heated up the are and was outside on the sun for the 2nd and 3rd tries. If I got a deffective vg I would like to know because my brother got a deffective one as well as the other guy here in the forum.

Here's what I used to fix the gap on the front of the antenna.

I cut the weather seal to size and added the 3m super thin double sided tape. Peel off and install, gap will be gone and it won’t look that bad actually.
