powder coating rims
I hear ya...I know the basics behind powder coating..just didn't know exactly how long it takes to bake the paint. I think powdercoating is the only way to go vs. painting
ANY powder coating can be done at your home or shop...
It does not take 2 days to bake an item....
It takes 15-20 minutes and can be done in any electric oven and or toaster oven for smaller parts.
You can find an oven on craigs list for 50-75$ and as long as you can fit the rim/item in the oven... you can powder coat it
The gun cost 40-50$ from harbor freight. powder is about 6$ a color

Let's think about this for a second... if a 400 degree bake screwed with any type of rim, don't you think they would have some issues on a track? When a set of brakes hits over a 1000F racing, I think parts of the rims will exceed 400F... I have heard this before and its total BS. If someone has some scientific evidence to say otherwise, Im all ears and will happily acknowledge my error.
^ I agree, it's probably very, very unlikely that powder coating will weaken the integrity of a forged wheel.
I also think gunmetal would look much better on PB to give the car some contrast.

if you are planning to do this at home, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT try to bake any powdercoated items in a gas oven as some of the materials is flammable. Even if you get away with not blowing anything up, you can no longer use a gas oven to bake food. You would need to use a DEDICATED electric oven.
