Looks good.....if you want to look like a mazda 3. I'm not a big fan of these tail lights because of that reason.
Kinda ricey.
The classier way is to make them more red, kind of like below. Again, this is my opinion.

The RalliArt tails make the car seem more aggressive, which is what an Evo should look like.
Nah I dont think you can generalize like that. Not all cars w/ black tails look bad. I had a Mazda 6 and I hated the Eurotails that were black but with the Evo I love the look of the RA tails. Its different for each car.

Our cars can look pretty classy with a nice drop, clean wheels, and the Do-luck Baller trunk(painted of course), along with crimson red tail lights. The body lines of the X looks very similar to a 3-series BMW or Audi.

But there's a classy way to mod the car and then there's cheap/trashy and rice. So yeah, there are classy Evos.
To the OP, I like how you did in progress comparison shots even with something so simple. I wish more people did that with "show & shine" mods.

So I just did an experiment to see how Apex Silver would look like with darker tail lights. Its a cheap experiment consisting of cellophane and Testors Candy Apple Red paint. Here is what turned out:
