The steal or aluminum arm that attaches to the dial that reclines the seat is straight on the replica. Where the real one has a curve to keep them tucked in closer and not sticking out quite as much.

I wonder if that carbon kevlar on the replica is real?

Most of the time the fabric is either sewn crooked or in a jagged line. Also, the cuts are very specific when Bride makes their cushions. The gradation always starts at a certain point.

The real comparison would be to stress test them and see if they indeed break / warp / explode in flames / cause world hunger / blah blah that everyone is afraid of.

I just did a quick search on one of the bigger auction motor sites and noticed many fakes were saying something along the lines of:
---------------------------------------------------------------
"Bride" is a legal registered trademark in Canada.

These seats are not made in Japan.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Some saying Taiwan and other locations.....

Well, it is ILLEGALLY registered in Canada and Taiwan. Japan is currently on court case right now with Taiwan. It's doubtful they'll win since the trademark is registered in Japan (as well as in the US).
