my taillight project

i had this project in mind for a while now, but I finally got to it this weekend Not telling you guys what it will be at the end, just follow the progress and you'll know

started off with some cheapo cutting wheel that was included with my dremel set... Well ****, thanks for giving me a pack of 20 of these cuz they SUCK!! I already broke 9 of them and didnt even cut an inch off!! So, I went back to the store and bought the "diamond cutting wheel"- since from what i heard, diamonds are a girl's best friend

I cut right at the seam where the back of the tail and front clear plastic cover meet.

Then I used a flat head to help separate the two pieces. Had to be careful not to break off any of the clear lens because it is still a visible part....
But of course, i got a little impatient with one corner- ended up breaking a small piece of plastic which I glued back on with spastic weld...

after the lens is apart from the rest of the tail, I took all the reflectors out (which are held by small tabs that just pop right out if you lift one side with small flat head)

Taped off the inside housing and sanded the rest. Now ready for paint!!!

I am trying to get them all cut and painted by tonight... so stay tuned

I did this to mine also, cut them apart and painted the housings black. I wasn't happy with how it looked afterwords since the lens is pink instead of completely clear. I just got the Ralliart lights after that.

You do know on those outer tails, those chrome housings pop right out of the red housing.... You don't have to tape them off, you can just remove them and pop them back in after paint.
