see in this pic the bottom corner toward the front doesnt clip on to good for that good tight fit, in time water and dust will weeken the tape and it should fly off.
im not trying to be negative at all, i have two rexpeed products myself and understand that sometimes they need a little more for a better secure installation.

... I think if you left the tape off in that area to begin with and just left the strip in the center, it would still stay on fine. That's a LOT of adhesion.

If this fitment is 7/10 for you... What's worse then?

Are you so used to getting poor quality stuff?

7/10 would be just for the antena stuff looking hideous in my book... I mean the way this sits, a cop can tell it's sticked on the car and give u $hit for it, atleast here he can... And compared to the 35000 different evo 9 VG versions, I don't think there was more than 10 that fitted worse than this...

I was going to buy this in a month when my X arrives here but you changed my mind. Thanks.

The fitment is really good. The tape is a little too thick and hence the tiny gap. I have plenty of unexposed adhesion on the other side and bottom. Even if rain does cut the one tiny corner, it will not go anywhere. I doubt this will ever fly off. I might consider removing it and refitting it on a warmer day. But so far, no complains and I can't stop admiring it.

Dude, we are driving a Evo X here not a Porsche 911. The quality of the car is **** to begin with anyways. Interior is crap and cheap to touch. A very minor misfit that is barely noticeable should not push a button for you soo easily Cops have other things to give me **** about, such as my tint and smoked taillights Hail the almighty evo

i wouldn't say the fitment is "really good," mine actually fits a bit better, but not by far and even then i'd only call it "good." (considering the price and all) not sure about you, but i was OCD about the thick white tape because i stuck it on the outer edge, so it was blatantly obvious. i took it off and used 3m molding tape (the gray one) instead. it's thinner and has similar adhesion, but it was an absolute pain to take it off

don't worry about the small gaps. i washed it a couple of times, saw the water go in one end and come out the other. it's no big deal.

and no it won't fly off the 3m tape can handle over 100+mph of direct wind impact. it would take a lot more than the wind on the roof to knock it off.

This piece looks terrible IMHO and is completely out of character for RS. The fitment is terrible and design unfunctional.

The fins are straight and provide little to no aerodynamic improvement. If you look at the VG from the factory, you see the fins are NOT straight. A lot of work went into the design of the last piece on the 8's and 9's- as much which went into the new FQ.

Should have just bought an ebay knock off....

i'm not completely savvy with the technical side of the vg, so forgive me if i sound like i'm justifying a product

the fins are not completely straight to the roof. if you look at mine:

http://www.lawtonyeung.com/images/vg4.jpg

on the other hand, if you look at the fq's vg:

http://photos.autoexpress.co.uk/imag..._246993_25.jpg

according to the tech doc on vg (http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/cor...004/16E_03.pdf) (it's printed 2004, but the technical data applies in a general form, so it should apply to the x as well) 15 degrees from direction of airflow is optimal, adding that additional height and yaw changes above that yield little difference. after reviewing the fins from the 8, 9, and the x are all about 40-45 degrees from the roof, i'm gonna say the fins from rexpeed/chargespeed is probably LESS effective, but it probably works to a small extent. as long as it is delta fins, any angle that can disturb airflow will yield a difference.

then again, the pdf said it reduces drag by 0.006, which was tested on a previous version evo that did not have the x's rear spoiler and frame, which itself helps generate a vortex around the sides of the car, thanks to the redesign. it's probably more cosmetic than functional for the x, but i don't think that fact will stop people from buying one.

Porsche or not, the fact is:

If you compare this item to 99% of the other items the _SAME_ company produces, the fitment is awful awful awful. All other Rexpeed stuff I've seen - lips, skirts, spats, whatever, fit 11/10. It just feels like they failed miserably with this one specific item compared to the level of quality they were providing so far. Hence, I'm disappointed and will not be buying this.

I hope this explains what I wanted to say.

Won't be buying.. fitment looks terrible, especially on the curves of the roof near the edge. Huuuuge gap.

well that brings in some hope lol. I am going to ask derek what I can do about the fitment. I am going to get around to taking it off and trying with the molding tape as you did.
Will keep you guys updated on how the customer service is and bla bla.. Thanks for breaking my ***** guys

I would have added an extra point for the angry chinese dude.

Is that the only spot you placed the double sided tape, or did you tape it in a rectangle.

look closely where the gap is the tape seems to be too thick. I will send you some thinner 3M adhesives which should work out better. When we test fitted them by pushing down on it the fitment is fine but for some reason the VG seems to lift up slightly once the tape is applied. Some customers dont have this issue some do but we are here to help solve it and will look into it more. Maybe its install error we dont know. For install tip use masking tape and hold it down over night until the tape cures which should help. But I think new thinner tape should be used which I will gladly send you some.

For those who think the VG fits like crap just look at the install pictures Im sure you know why there is a gap. You guys decide if you think our parts dont fit right or not. If you have any problems let me know ill take care of it. I dont think anyone can say we never stand behind our products or we give crappy service etc.... If you dont let us know we cant help you. I see some customers say this and that but they never tell us whats going on so how are we suppose to help? My pm box is always open you know where you can reach me. Im glad Prodigy1210 sent me pm and brought this up thank you!

I wont be following this thread if you have issues or concerns please send me pm its the easiest way to get a hold of me or email derek@rexpeed.net

Cheers,
Derek
