Rexpeed CF Vortex Generator Review

It began with its arrival :

A close up:

Only for 9x5 SSS GSR:

The included 3M Double sided tape:

Now comes the critiquing.
  1. The 3M tape should have been applied and sent over as the fabricator will know the best places to apply the adhesive for optimal fitment.
  2. The CF weave was really good.
  3. Packaging was excellent. No damage to the VG.
  4. The thing is very light (Duh)...
  5. The fitment is about 95%
  6. Look really good combined with a shorty antenna.
  7. A heat gun is necessary to heat up the adhesive and the adhering surface for the best stick.
  8. Box had a Chinese newspaper with angry Chinese Olympic guy throwing spear..
  9. Rexpeed did a fantastic job of contouring to every curve and bump on the X's bald bumpy head. Now it looks like Sonic the hedgewhore
Here is some of the tape applied:

Looks good from here:

Not a 100% fitment. Can see some of the tape..

B E A UUUUUTIFUL

Note how the antenna base slot does not fit 100%

Kudos to Rexpeed for trying to get this to fit as best as possible.

Summary & Score:
  • Quality: 8/10
  • Price: 8/10 ($220 shipped)
  • Fitment: 7/10
  • Ease of Installment: 10/10
  • Packaging: 9/10 (-1 for angry Olympic Asian guy newspaper). Ok maybe not. 10/10
  • Vendor support/response time: 8/10
  • Overall score: 8/10
Worth it? That is subjective.
Like it? I love it.
Would buy again from Rexpeed? Definitely.

i see you have similar problems too.

i suppose for what was paid, it's not that bad. hell, i learned to live with it. still looks good regardless of fitment flaws.

Look realy nice im looking to buy one for my MR 2009.

But I only see Rexpeed that made a Vortex for the EVO X. Is there a other good compagnie with this product?

How much is for the real Vortex of te FQ serie in the UK?

I think Charge speed also makes the VG for the X.

And yes props to Derek. Always replies promptly. Ask him if he has one for your MR.

Dunno about the FQ series VG.

APR makes one but you have to cut it slightly to fit the SSS antenna base.

dammit, im so on the fence about this. i want it because im a budding rexpeed ***** but at the same time i've got a certain amount of OCD, and it would absolutely annoy the hell out of me seeing any gaps. maybe ill spend the $220 on the radiator panel but i know ill still want the VG. should i just pull the trigger?

All in all, I can't wait to get mine too!

lol wow, what a dilemma. I'd say, wait for evo a mullah to get his APR VG and see if that fits better. In the mean time, can't go wrong with the radiator panel

But keep i mind that the APR fins are shorter and not as attractive as the rexpeed one. Also if you go the rexpeed way, derek replies really quickly and is much like a friend than a salesperson. The fitment may not be 100% but is still very attractive and barely noticeable unless you come up real close and jab your eye into the gap.
