Hmm, I doubt it. Someone did just make a thread wondering the same thing. He wondered if Mitsu would challenge Subaru's new special edition STI model. However, I doubt it because Mitsu just did a touring MR edition. Mitsu is adding more luxury type options to the Evos now because that is where they lacked with the 8 and 9's.

Yeah, I think with the introduction of the Ralliart Lancer at a very close pricepoint to a X GSR, I have answered my own question. But I was hoping they offered a X RS maybe at the 29,999 pricepoint

you need to make yourself clear, are you wondering if mitsu is going to bring the X RS to the states, or if they re going to make an evo X RS? because the X RS exists, it just didn't come to the states.

I'm sorry, I meant if they are bringing it to the states. I know they make RS's in every model year since at least the V's

They had them available in Canada in 09 I believe. You would have to be a total hard core racer to pick it over a GSR.

I am not a hard core racer and I love my IX RS. Hmmmm...Maybe because it is what I wanted.

I would get the RS if I could make it street legal in EU without making it into a rally car.

Yeah, Mitsubishi didn't sell enough RS in the States, so as far as marketing goes it isn't worth it in their view to have it in the line up.
Also, they'll have to make left hand drive unlike Japan or for UK markets.
Lastly, the safety standards are lower in Japan, where keeping heavy crash beams off is legal.

That's complete nonsense. The RS model sold very well and continues to do in used car sales. And as far as marketing...there isn't any for the Evo line. Never has been.

More nonsense. Canada's RS was LHD. Lastly, what do crash beams have to do specifically with the RS trim? If Mitsubishi were to release another RS for the USDM it would be based off the current X GSR sold here in the US. No need to reinvent the wheel. They'd start with a run-of-the-mill LHD, 5-speed Evo and start pulling weight off...ABS, EBD, sound deadening, etc. Then they'd put on an aluminum roof and a few other weight saving body panels. At 3300lbs it'd still be a fat pig by RS standards though. I think that's the real reason we'll never see an X RS. It's an exercise in futility.
