I would love to see how you implemented that. It this point, I'm going to be creating a PCB that will fit around the shaft with 6 different 0803 leds on it and slim down the area on the bottom of the needle where it gathers light to prevent bleed over. I already tried doing it with the stock positions for the board mounted leds and it came out purple-ish with more red in a certain area, but it never went back to true blue anywhere around the face.

Chris posted up his first impressions in our local forum.

Very professional work. All of the clips are intact, the panels are in perfect alignment. The lights are perfectly matched and the needles do not look as baby blue as in the pictures. I turned the brightness all of the way up on the center console and it was so bright it lights up the entire interior of the car. I have it set at about half and it is as bright as the gauges were stock.

All of the colors match perfect. I have read that blue fatigues the eyes less at night (one of the reasons VW has the blue gauges). I don't know about fatigue, but the AEM gauges in blue seem easier to read. It is hard to explain but they seem sharper.

I will get better pics soon, but all I can say is Andrew does great work, and he didn't even use a metal hammer.

Current outside aesthetic mods are gold Volk TE37's, black out tails, etc. The interior is stock with the exception of an AEM Wideband and AEM Digital Boost gauge. When Chris dropped the car off, I showed him some of the mods I've completed on my IX. I believe that gave him full confidence in my abilities so he gave me full reign and cart blanche over the color choice and combination for the conversion.

With this conversion, the thing that sets it apart from others people have completed on X's previously is the level of professionalism and fine detail on every aspect of the build. Each LED has been hand selected from a batch of the same color for color correctness. I made sure the wave lengths match each color no matter which package size the led came in. The correct package size was utilized to replace the stock LED perfectly, whether that was a 0603, 0805, 1206, right angle, 5mm, or PLCC2 led. I added different types of diffusing material to different pieces to achieve a uniform lighting scheme throughout the interior. This is also the most complete conversion anyone has done on these cars. But the gauges are still white, you might say to yourself. Yes, but this was a deliberate choice as I believe blue gauges faces would be potentially over-bearing. The white gauges add a perfect balance to interior with a few of the other accents being white. Every switch, light, and button was modified in some way to make the entire interior cohesive.

With all of this being said, I've completed over 40 led interior conversions for 350z's, G35's, and FX35's in the past five years. I've been on my350z.com for the last 7 years under the same screen name. This is my first conversion on a X, and I would consider it flawless in every aspect.

Here is a complete list of every component converted.
AWC Switch (Blue)
SST Switch (Blue)
Shift Surround (Blue with White on Gear Select)
Passenger Airbag Indicator (Blue, since it stays on if no one is in the passenger seat. I wanted it to blend into the center dash.)
AC Controls (Blue)
Under AC Accent Lights (Blue)
Factory Navigation Controls (Blue)
Driver's Window Switch (Blue)
Headlight Level Switch (Blue)
ASC Switch (Blue)
Information Display (Blue Normal Operation, Red Warning Operation)
Needles (Blue)
AEM Wideband (Blue Seven Segment Displays, direct factory replacement)
AEM Digital Boost Gauge (Blue Seven Segment Displays, direct factory replacement)
Full Stereo, Cruise, and Handsfree Controls (Blue)

Can this be done on my Evo 8 and if so WHEN, WHERE and HOW! I want my AEM gauges(tru boost and wide band) done in that blue as well as all my bash lights and needles(speedo and tach)! I love that blue color! what would that cost?

Mine is actually the one he'll be working on next. I'm taking the car over after MOD on Saturday. I'm having pretty much the EXACT same thing done to mine as in Krisiun's pics that Acree posted. The only difference is mine is a GSR (with factory Nav). Unlike Krisiun's, I'm getting the Tach & Speedo done as well. I'm really excited to see what Acree can do with the needles. Ideally, I'd like to have it do 3 colors but I think 2 is probably what I'll go with. We'll have to see how many LED's Acree can fit in there and more importantly, IF it will look good and not bleed over too much making it look lame. Otherwise I'm sticking to just 2 colors for the needle: white/red or yellow/red...not sure yet. Since the Speedo will be blue, not sure if I want the needle blue as well. I'll have to talk with Acree on Saturday and gather a 2nd opinion.

Can't wait to get this done. I'm sure Acree will keep everyone posted.

It's not something that can be done unless you have extensive soldering experience or you will most definitely destroy the board.

I will be completing this conversion on my IX in a couple of months after my engine build is finished. I've already converted everything except the main gauge cluster. Here is a video of the work so far.
