My front bumper is finally healed!
My front bumper is finally healed!
So when I bought my car, there were gash marks right under the drivers headlight. Looked like a shopping cart ran right into it. The dealership said they would fix it for like $500. I'm like dude I can fix that ish fo FREE son. So finally after 10 months of pushing it to the side, I got around to it and started doing work.
First, I filled it up with this "bondo-like" filler, but its for plastic. I couldn't remember the name, but it was laying around in my uncles house. Layed it on the little boo-boo I had and even it out. Let it dry for 24 hours and got right to sanding with 800 grits.
(Sorry don't have a pic to show how it looked like before!)
Second, after it was all smooth. It was ready for primer. Degreased and everything. My uncle was helping me do this so we thought it would be smart to lay out extra layers of primer so just in case we would need to smooth down a little more. We don't sand it straight to the plastic. We let the primer dry for about like 30 mins since it was like 95 degrees outside. It was already ready for sanding, so back to the 800 grits. And got the car all taped up to get ready for the next step.

Now, it was time to start painting, then laying three layers of clearcoat. Layed plastic all over the car to prevent from overspray sticking anywhere on the car.

And now for the final product.

Wow you guys did a great job! When i got my ix , it had gashes in the rear bumper lol, but those are also long gone. Your bumper looks flawless. Who's red supra in the background ? haha
Thanks for the feedback you guys! I did most of the prep work. The supra is my uncles' and he does not own a body shop or does auto body for living. Its just a hobby.
