APR vs JDP ralliart style front lip
APR vs JDP ralliart style front lip
Curious about fitment and amount of modification to the bumper for both of these.
Talked to JDP about theirs and there is evidently drilling required into the stock bumper.
Would like comments from those here with either kit.
Thanks

JDP is nice if you want to save a little. The fitment is really tight. The only way to install it is by removing your whole bumper off and installing the corners first while gently pushing the middle section slowly on the lip. This is going to be a 2 person install if you want it installed evenly. Yes you have to drill under the bumper but wont be noticeble when you eventually remove the lip. Once bolted up, the lip is very sturdy and holds in place very well.
Suggestion: I suggest you add some kind of tape or something inside the lip where it attaches to the bumper. Inside the lip has some areas where it has charp edges that would scratch your stock bumper. You can also use sand paper or something to soften those areas. I used some kind of tape but still left small scratch marks but oh wellz. This is just a FYI.
Regardless which lip you buy, both apr and jdp make good quality peices.
Heres a pic.

i want the JDP lip and i keep seeing more threads popping up about it.
I've been looking around for pics of it online and from what i've seen in all the pictures the fitment looks great (haven't seen any noticable gaps). I know you can't go based entirely on pics but its a start.

My experience with the JDP lip wasn't very good. It has gaps, the install is terrible, and it yellowed on me.
My body shop guy told me that of the three lips I've had (JDP, Rexpeed V-Style, and APR) that the APR lip has the best fitment. I agree with him.
JDP is good for a cheap lip, but it's still a cheap lip.

What was required for mounting the ARP lip as far as bumper modification?
I have the APR lip, the fitment is perfectly snug. Not snug to the point where you need to remove the bumper to install though.
It does require the drilling of 6 holes into the bottom of the black Air Dam section of the bumper only.

Most carbon fiber epoxy will yellow if you don't wax it regularly, like 2-3 times a month. This is because most just polish the epoxy/resin laid over the CF, instead of spraying it with a actual clear coat/gel coat. I've never had an issue with anything of CF I've ever owned because I wax regularly, including the cheapest EBay **** from overseas.
I have the APR. Fitment is spot on and no need to remove bumper for install. You will have to drill but its common sense as you see how things line up. APR will cost you more then the JDP. Go APR and never go back.
