I removed the back half of the roof liner. Took the nut off and unhooked all the wires. Completely removed.

ANy pics? Been trying to find everywhere on the forums a white Evo X with the vinyl roof (and hopefully even a vinyl wing) since that's what I'm considering doing.

Didn't faux vinyl roofs go out in the 80's?

Originally, CF roofs were offered as a means of reducing weight and lowering the car's center of gravity. The black wrap imitates the look. Kinda like Boser hoods (that serve a legitimate purpose) and eyelids.

Even if I go matte black on the roof, I think that looks pretty good too.

Just to clarify, you removed the interior trim/lining on the roof and undid the nut/bolt and the antenna came off easily? Any more info would be great- the installer asked me if I was able to find out as much as possible beforehand.

X roofs are already made of aluminum. It's as light as it's going to get.

CF is lighter, still, but that was hardly the point.

Antenna is easily removed by unclipping the interior lining apparently. You just need to unclip it twice from the C-pillars and there's 2 bolts you need to remove and the antenna unscrews easily.

Anyway I got mine done at Carbon Demon (Sydney, Australia) - http://carbonfibrevinylwrap.net.au/?page_id=17&album=22

Here are some photos
