Pulled the heat shield off when I got time yesterday and flakes of heat wrapped started to fall. Upon further inspection i noticed the heat wrapped got baked and just started cracking/peeling off with minimal effort. Took a picture midway through for documentation.



Anyone have problems like this? I gotta fabricate a new heat shield out of sheet metal or some sort.. My engine bay gets crazy hot with this manifold.

 

what manifold is that?

anyways, my heat wrap on all my downpipes experienced the same fate whenever I remove it.

The stuff just starts falling apart when I touch it.

 

Check your cam sensor make sure its not melted =)

 

what brand thermal wrap did you use...?

Ceramic coating is your better bet honestly.. especially if your tracking the car.. that thermal wrap only lasts so long
