OEM Aero Side Skirts vs 2011

The side skirts changed in 2010 for the GSR making them a little beefier...how do the aero kit skirts differ from the new 2010/2011 factory skirts (non aero kit)? I've been searching the pics to see a difference but they are damn close. Reason is that I ordered the aero kit (waiting for install) when I bought my 2011 gsr and if the regular stock ones work with the lip/rear etc couldn't I just put the $900 (skirts msrp) cost towards something else? I'm guessing they have to be a little different in some way...thanks guys

I would not put on the front/rear aero kit pieces and leave off the side skirts. The aero sides sit lower and will line up with the other aero parts. Im picky about things lining up, though. There are people on the forums who have the front lip without the sides if you want to search around.

You are right... Many people don't even pay for them bec they are planning to put a body kit later on, the thing is that oem parts are made to last for ever!

ok thanks...yea I see that the aero kit is a little chunkier and lower. And I too am very picky about everything lining up correctly. OK good..that makes me happy that I am actually geting something for my money. Thanks for the illustrations!

One more thing...I bought my car last weekend and it didn't have the aero kit installed so I just bought it while I was at the dealer and now I am waiting for the parts to get in at the dealer so they can install it for me, question...what the hell am I going to do with the factory skirt after they swap in the Aero skirt? They def won't fit in my car but I dont wanna just give them to the dealer...you think a dealer would even want them? I guess I'll have to bring my SUV another day to pick them up and try to sell them..any thoughts or what you would do?

I just purchased a 2011 evo x gsr without the aero kit even though I was gonna get it at first. I think its not worth the money.

some like the kit some don't..I do think the car looks fine without it but I personally like the added aggressiveness it adds...I also like the effect it has by making the car look slightly lower as I don't want to drop the suspension (a lot +1"). If I was dropping the suspension I wouldnt get the kit (for scrapping issues)

Plus I always regretted not getting the kit for my 01 prelude when I bought that from the dealer....also remember, the factory kit is covered under the warranty

I have aero kit and the sides make it a pain in the *** to get in and out sometimes.

I've seen an Evo with aero front and back, standard sides and it still flows well.

Don't waste your money on the side skirts...I am actually running just the OEM aero kit rear extensions with no side skirts or front and it looks beatiful...The side skirts will look fine with only the front and back OEM aero so save the $900+paint/install and get yourself some more worthwhile goodies...plus the aero sideskirts kind of stick out and are very prone to scuffing when getting in/out the car, especially if you have lady friends that wear heels...GL!
