Vortex generators are designed to reduce drag, as the prevent the creation of a large single vortex, by creating a series of smaller ones. Smaller vortex' have a lower net effect on drag.

The same concept applies to the diffuser. The angle of inclination is designed to ensure that the air flow does not detach from the underside of the car. This reduces drag. Also the diffuser is split into sections to ensure that multiple (small) vortex' are generated.

The upper deck of the diffuser is for cooling and aesthetics only.

The trunk lip is cosmetic.

Cold air intake on a Nissan Patrol maybe

I wish someone would just make a full replacement carbon fiber one already and not just an add on lower like the JUN/Varis one. I'd love to have one just a little more aggressive than your street one, mainly just a bit wider and slightly under the rear spats

I LOVE the undertray and the street diffuser. I couldn't get away with the race one as I do have to drive the car around town sometimes. But I'm in to see if these make production.

What price are you thinking the whole setup will run? Splitter w/ full undertray and street diffuser?

The car does a flyby at 50 sec!

The SLS and 458 turn up at 1:20

Agreed. Again, Nice work! However the Mitsubishi pdf on the design aerodynamics for the Evo X found the roof vortex generator not needed. I understand the trunk lip is cosmetic but it will still be directing airflow. Just curious.

Do you have this PDF? I seem to recall this being different for the MR. by creating the smoother air they were able to effectively use a trunk lip for generation of additional downforce with the use of a Vortex generator?

the reason being, on the 8/9 the slope of the rear window was significant enough that air flow was separating before reaching the bottom of the window. Since the 8/9 had the stationary box wing in place, by adding the vortex generators on the roof, it prolonged flow attachment to the surface, hence allowing faster air flow underneath the box wing, which allowed the underwing surface to work better to create the negative lift (downforce)

the reason why the X doesn't really the VGs is because the rear window's slow is more gradual, and the shape of the X roof allows for adequate flow attachment underneath the X's wing shape. the VGs on the X.. well.. most likely more cosmetic than anything.. it does complement his car
