Plasti dipping whole car?

I have seen videos and pictures of people doing their whole cars in this stuff, including someone on here painting their WW evo X matte black. most of these people use rattle cans, while I see it is available in a spray gun form on a website. I was curious to try a custom color through a spray gun and then use the plasti dip clear over it. All the pictures I see are mostly rattle can jobs and they are all the matte look. I thought it would be kind of cool to have a custom color Evo and just pull the stuff off when a radical color gets tiredsome. I know it wont be show car finish, but Id love to know what to expect to a certain degree.

Please don't. Use vinyl wrap if you want something like that.

I gave vinyl a thought also. I just didnt know how difficult it was. Doing car stuff like this is a hobby. I installed a full clear bra and that was somewhat difficult, I have no clue the difficulty on vinyl though although I am interested in doing something that isnt permanent.

Thats why I was curious about it. I did my WW X's wheels in matte white and I really like the way they look. Now im just curious how body panels look, especially with a gloss over them

my experience with plastic dip is that it is hard to get it even. For small parts, okay, but when you're talking about large flat areas, small inconsistencies will stand out and it won't look right. also, it's a PITA to get off. vinyl is the right way to go.

If you do it yourself... $700 for vinyl. Labor = sweat and tears.

everyone I know who has used it on smaller parts say its easy to get off...you just peel and give you car a good wash after. I don't think doing rattle cans for the entire car would be the way to go though.

Yeah thats nuts. Im not looking for anything permanent. Id like to have my Evo in Lime green and my Viper in neon orange with black stripes. Then when I get sick of the flashiness, just take it off.

Oh I definitely will be doing it myself. Like I said, it is a hobby and an accomplishment. Ill have to research more on vinyl to see how difficult it truly is.

Yeah I have done my WW Evos wheels in the white plasti dip and I like how they look a lot. Also I did the front "star" emblem in black. And I definitely wouldnt rattle can it. They sell the gallons in custom colors that are made to run through a paint gun.

Coverage I am curious about also. Rattle can looks atrocious, leaving highs and lows from what I have seen. Thats why Im curious about spray guns. The removal doesnt look too bad from the videos I have seen, but then again, I dont know how hard the stuff is to get off as it sits for extended periods of time.

Lol. Either someone is tearing you a new ******* or most of the shops by me give crazy hookups for about 1/4 the price you are getting.

About to plasti dip my evo VIII in the blue color with a little mix to make it darker. Ordered 2 gallons and have a heavy duty spray gun. Should be fun and if it comes out not good then I will just peel it off. Just doing it for ****s and giggles.

Goo Gone will be your friend if you decide to do this.

Hopefully you decide to make a thread on your progress. Are you leaving it matte or going with a gloss after its painted?

I want to see how it comes out. I'm no professional painter as i've only done small things such as wheels. If it comes out good then I will definitely be clearing it.
