Missing my MR

4/1/11 I sold my 08 MR and bought an 11 GSR. Don't get me wrong, I love my GSR, it's a great car, but I prefer the SST and Bilstein package. I got rid of my MR because the $10k price tag on a transmission had me shaking.

I've done some upgrades to my GSR that have made it a great machine. Underhood shifter bushings, weighted jdm ralliart shifter knob, SRP pedals (helps toe-toe rev matching). But at the end of the day, I miss the 6th gear, I miss the paddles (always drove in sport / manual mode).

At the track, I had faster laptimes in the MR, with less power. It was a good car!! I miss my MR and want another. I'll take an SST over manual any day

When I sold it, it had:
English Racing tune
Enkei RPF1s with Continental DW
Fog light delete
Seibon Carbon Grille
Rexpeed Mirror covers
Rexpeed Wing Covers
Blitz Turbo Timer / Boost gauge
Ralliart Engine Cover
Ferodo DS2500s Brake Pads
Stainless Brake Lines
ETS Intake
ETS 3.5 FMIC
ETS intercooler pipes
ETS HFC
Perrin RSB & endlinks
Perrin Exhaust
Aero Kit
JL Audio G6600 amp
Kenwood DNX9280bt
eXile components and co-axials
HKS SST Fluid

Is the difference that notable between the KYB shocks and the Bilstein?

Also how do you like the under hood bushings?

I've always liked the MR. Good review

I will never own another manual. I'm pretty sure we'll see true manuals completely phased out in racing over the next few years too.

There is a huge difference between the struts OR springs. I'm not sure which. But tracking on stock suspension, I'll take the MR. I just felt more comfortable in it. I wanted to hang it out more, kick out the ***.

I was struggling to choose between a GSR and the MR. I ended up with the MR and I couldn't be happier. I love the transmission. It just shifts so damn fast.

Return your GSR to stock and trade it in to Sam @ South Coast. He has a bunch of MRs!

how do you like washing your car? j/k! I like the GSR because of the rawness but the MR is okay too.

The 6AT on the MR makes the Evo that much more liveable as a daily driver. sure the GSR can handle more power and the like, but at the end of the day, I want a car I can relaz in, even just a little bit.

since i don't have a long commute i decided on a gsr. i don't care for the added luxuries of an MR but I do agree a GSR needs a 6th gear.

The main luxury that I missed was the Bilsteins. I had an 08, so I didn't have a ton. Nothing that couldn't be added to with the SSS or SS packages.

really? i would think you'd prefer the GSR more..

i have an MR now and i feel that a GSR would have been more fun to drive. grass is greener on the other side?

It is fun to rev match, I'm good at it, especially with the SRP pedals. But it loses it's greatness after a while. I'd rather paddle shift and shift fast .
