Cobb XLE bpv dissected

Got myself a used cobb bpv.
the previous owner wasn't sure the miles on it so im sure there was a need to open it up and clean it.

full pic

this is what was inside the bpv. good thing i opted to clean it out.

parts laid out

cobb does a pretty good job with just about everything they make. you can tell by this gasket they've included in the build of a simple bpv.

cleaned up and good quality rubber seal rings

inside the bpv housing

NEVER use conventional motor oil. Use hydraulic oil instead (tip i learned from turbosmart). Can someone explain why? Thanks in advance!

This is the 50/50 setup. The car idles same as stock. Holds boost really well. Gives off a light swoosh right when letting off boost. Absolutely no flutter. Extremely clean sound.

Thanks for viewing guys.

Can someone explain why turbosmart recommended using hydraulic oil and not motor oil?

Note: you will need longer vacuum hose due to the positioning of the cobb vacuum nipple pointing up when installed (stock points towards the left towards the block).

You can point the nipple toward the fire wall also. Nice thing about the BPV is that it works either way.

wait really? the nipple is like, welded on, and a part of the housing.
I dont see how that is possible?

considering my intake/licp are all in stock position. There is only really one way to install this thing. unless you are installing this pull type.

The above is currently installed as push type.
looking at the mechanics of this cobb bpv, it is really only made for a push type due to the pistons(shape literally like an alcoholic shot glass, not an UFO or a football).

yeah since you have stock UICP and intake having the nipple up maybe the only way i have a Perrin UICP and inlet hose and my BPV is so thatthe nipple is to the firewall and the adjustment screw is pointing up for easy adjustment.

Pull type like mine its much easier to adjust without reaching around to the back. My adjustment nut is right there when i open my hood. Im not sure how it would work with stock piping since i changed mine out before installing the XLE, but should be similar.

The photo posted shows what i see when opening my hood the nipple is to the fire wall and the adjustment screw almost touches my tower bar. messaged cobb to get clarification on this cause i thought it was an eith push or pull type valve.
