Just cause I like examples... here's one of 3M's Crystalline 90. You won't notice this AT ALL - just imagine a 5 or 10% 6in strip on top :P

OP, nice car and tint

I just got 20% ceramic all around, 90% crystalline on the entire windshield and honestly I dont even notice the difference (visual-wise) from untinted. I dont know how much darker 80% will be compared to the 90% but I imagine its not a lot. My 20/90 combo is totally fine at night so OP's plan to do 80/30 should be fine too I assume. BTW, this tint is also radar detector and e-pass transponder friendly. There were concerns raised whether it might disrupt signal but it doesnt.

edit: the crystalline has 3M prints across the windshield for authenticity purposes I think. I was told I can rub it off with water or alcohol. It better come off!

Great feedback, thanks! I might go with Air Blue instead if there are 3M marks on the tint - I understand the authenticity reason but seems like something the dealer would remove during the install? I was concerned about authenticity of my tint during the install but Huper Optik contacted me directly with proof of warranty and details a week or so later so I'm sure 3M could do something similar. I was researching radar detector issues today as I am considering an Escort 9500ix - no more concerns now :P (didn't think about e-pass friendly either - assuming same deal as we have here "Good 2 Go Pass" for the tolls)

I went ahead and tried to rub out one of the 3M prints on the windshield and it came off!...not with water though, but windex on paper towel. So there you dont have to worry if you still decide to go with 3M. When you get your windshield done, examine the work right away. Remember these guys are used to tinting door windows and rear windshields but not the front windshield. This place I went to is already good and reputable. The rest of the windows are perfectly done but the top part of the windshield has creases and thin folds. It doesnt really bother me but I paid $200 for the crystalline so I will return to report it. Dont know if it can still be fixed now that it has already dried off.

heres a quick look at the 3M print.
