Let the mods begin!

So i've had the car for almost two years and 20k miles, and finally cracked into the stock Evo.

My goals with the car, being that it handles so good from factory, was to firstly maintain those handling characteristics but at the same time enhancing it. The power will come after lol.

So after much review and speaking to a couple people from AMS, Rallysport direct, etc. i got to Ryan Gates. With all the success from the 311rs and how much of a street/track beast that it is i decided to put all my chips on their suspension set up. I managed to get the first set of 311rs spec JRZ RS1's. To be honest it is everything and more that i expected and wanted. It is the perfect hybrid for street/track use. I started my addiction to suspension back in my honda days with koni yellows and Tein basics on my civics. But these are like gold compared to anything else that i've driven. To say the least i can't wait for my first track day with these!

When it came to the wheel choice i have always loved the look of the CE28. Its actually my favorite wheel even before i owned an evolution. so i opted for Mag Blue 18x10.5+18 with 275/35/18 Nitto NT-05's. So far so good, i've pushed the car a little bit on highway entrance and exit ramps and it feels planted, but still have to test them at the track.

Anyways, I still have a long way to go with the suspension, and power but all at its due time.. and as many of you already know neither JRZ or Volk wheels are on the budget side so time to start saving my pennies again for the next round of upgrades. Keep the hate out and suggestions and tips are always welcomed!

Big thanks to Ryan for the amazing service, from start to finish and even to finding me a good reputable shop here in Central FL to dial in the suspension and corner balance. Can't thank him enough! Billy and Josh at Kamispeed for the great and speedy service with the wheels! and Marty, Scott, and Cory at Revworks for top notch work on the alignment and suspension. Cant wait to get out on the track!!

WOW! Mad props for getting quality products. The car looks so sick bro. I love the mag blue on white cars. I just bought some AME tm02s and want to powder coat them a shade of blue. I too have a WW but I went with the power first and now working on suspension components myself. Im in between the fence on ohlin and JRZs.

Thanks!! I was too! their both great dampers. What did it for me was that I would've wanted to change the spring rates on the ohlin's and that just seemed like a hassle. Also Ryan has these JRZ dialed in perfectly for the X's so can't go wrong with that

Japhet, dude the car looks awesome! I didn't know you were running Mag Blue Ce28ns...good call.

Spend some more time with the car and report back to us about how it's treating you. Feedback is key for us at this point. The 311RS-spec JRZ RS1s differ from the standard RS1s in ride quality and maximum performance, we need to be sure they're performing as they should

Thanks Ryan! Will definitely get some more seat time and get in touch with you. As if now I'm still in the honeymoon phase. Haha everything is good about them!

Solid setup sir and awesome wheel choice as well

Car is heading in the right direction in my eyes

On my personal Evo X I have done a little power and everything suspension. Its a world of difference from a good handling Stock suspension Evo to a great handling Evo

You are in good hands with who you have gone with and Ryan Gates has been working long and hard on this 311RS project. I love and respect these cars and what he has done with them. Great/ better alternative to Europe's FQ cars that we don't get here

Looking forward to seeing what comes next on your car

I emailed Ryan directly through the 311RS website.

Thanks! Yeah, the pictures really do not do the color justice. In the sun they completely transition to a different blue

So had some rubbing issues with the seam at the top of the fender, under the fender liner. Thanks to the guys at allversion motoring here in Orlando, they let me use their lift and grinder to make some slices on the seam and hammer them flat.

As you can see that seam is like a razor waiting to slice into the tire..

My buddy took a grinder to it...i couldn't do that to my own car lol

and i hammered it flat

Now just gotta get some spray paint or some kind of coating for the bare metal, so it won't rust, but the rubbing issues are gone for the most part. Just some minimal rub on hard cornering on the liner, which should wear itself in with time. If it gets too much ill just take a heat gun to it. But thats all the progress so far

One after working on it I need a lip BAD lol
