She's finally here!

After wanting this for almost two years and searching for the exact FQ400 hood then ordering it and waiting two months to get it, I got it!

Having a little fiberglass repair being done then painting. Should be on the car Friday morning.

Makes my heart go pitter patter.

No, the Seibon is actually a little different design. This one is made from the actual FQ400 hood and same material, FRP. The photo is just a base. Hasn't been painted yet.

Just small difference in the scoop design and lines leading to it. Stuff only a wack job like myself worries about which is why it took me so long to get it. That and the fact that there is a lot of bad info online about who made the original. But can't blame them, even shops had no clue until I sent them side by side photos of the hood on a FQ400 and the one they were claiming to be the same. I circled the differences and then they said "ahhhh all this time I thought it was the same" lol

I admit they are close but put then on the screen together and once you see it, you will know. It's not that the other hoods like Varis, Seibon Test and Service are bad, if you like the design go for it. Believe me, I would have loved to have liked the other ones more. Would have saved me time and in a few cases money. Lol

The main difference between the FQ and the rest really lie in the center scoop area. Like the Varis the scoop isn't as raised. T&S is a little different shape and the lines leading up to it aren't as sharp. I just happen to really like the original scoop shape, height and the sharpness of the lines leading up to it.

Told you the busses don't go where I live. Lol

Well this is a tricky question. Where I got it from I wouldn't get it from again. But I believe Japperformanceparts has the exact same one.

Well it's not one off a fq400 but I was told it's either made by the original people or it's made with the original mold or however they do it. Basically it is supposed to be legit and not a replica. How can I know that with 100% certainty? I can't, but all I really cared about was it looked exactly like the original and so far I think it does. Once painted and on the car I'll know more.

From my research the real deal is fiberglass as well. But fiberglass is a decent material done right.

It was extremely light. I have never lifted the stock hood other than to open it but to me the FQ hood felt like half the weight. I could be way off but when I went to grab it to see what it weighed I almost threw it off the stand. Lol I was thinking it would be heavier so I went at it like it was heavy. I wish I had a scale. I'm thinking about getting a cheap scale to weigh the splitter I'm making. Maybe I'll get it tomorrow and drop it off at the body shop so they can weigh it.

Or maybe the weight is out there on the Internet someplace.

I'm actually glad it isn't carbon. It's already expensive enough and I don't into the body panels that don't match look so it would have been painted either way.
