Window Tint on Evos?

I want to black out my '14 Evo with tint. My state law is 50% front side and 35% backside, but I definitely wanted to go darker than that. I was thinking 15% or 5% all around.

Something I've learned is that I do get watched by cops most of the time for the car I drive, and I guess it is a case by case basis, but those of you who have tinted your cars darker than the state limit. Do cops bother you much? Or is it if they pull you over that's another thing they can add on.

I have a buddy who used to have an Evo tinted illegally and he said he never got stopped for it, but when he got pulled over for speeding they inquired about his tint.

Any advice would help. 15% or 5% tint just looks so cool.

You got the ***** run 5%. What happens to other people means nothing, this is about you.

If 75% of Evo drivers with illegal tint get pulled over and ticketed, that would have an impact on my decision considering that I statistically would be making a bad decision to tint my windows that dark. So yes, other people's opinions matter. Thanks for the comment, though.

It really depends on the brand and type of tint you go with. There really isn't that much of a difference between 15 and 5 visually. In pitch darkness, you can reverse around looking through the rear windshield with 15, 5 you feel more comfortable with your head out the door, haha.

I don't know what level of tint I have, but this is what it looks like:

If I didn't drive around with my front windows down 95% of the time, I would probably have to remove the tint because I know it would bring too much unwanted attention.

Is visiblity at night a factor? My wife's Si had 5% all around and 35% on the windshield (Are the headlights ON???), looking out the sides or the back was like is anyone out there? We finally got it stripped and it's much better. I never tinted my IX and had zero cop hassles even with a full TBE. Just another reason for cops to hassle you IMO. The X I just bought came with 35 all around - tolerable.

I have 20% all around. I do fine with it although it is a bit too dark at night. I had 5% in the rear of my truck.. I hated it.

OP: Are you willing to pay and have it stripped off (and then re-applied) if you do get the inspection ticket?

If - so then take the chance...

Me? I stayed legal (35%) and have no worries...

go with 35% all around, 5 or 15 is very dark especially if your already getting extra attention

I wouldn't run dark tint on our cars. Like you already said, we get a lot of attention already because of the fact that it's an sporty car with an attention-getting spoiler on the back. If you have an aftermarket exhaust, then I wouldn't even consider getting 5% tint lol.

Personally, I don't like the look of tint anyways so I never got tint on any of my vehicles.

I wouldn't go any darker than 20% if you absolutely have to. Like everyone else mentioned 30 - 35 is already plenty. You can also consider tinting your windshield slightly to darken up the interior a bit but still allow enough light from the sides. I ended up doing 35% on mine and 70% windshield
