It's all relative to what he's ran in the past: versions, which cars, etc.

Seeing that the OP is in NY, I'd suggest something on all-seasons side. I think the DWS (new version) is a good way to go. Either that, or get two sets of wheels and run two sets of tires. Some RE71s, Star Spec 2, or RS4 during the summer, and some snow tires in the winter?

After running five different sets of tires on my Evo for 99,750ish miles over the past 11 years I can say without a doubt the NT05s are by far the worst "performance" tires I've ever used. Got the absolute worst mileage/wear out of them, absolute worst grip, absolute worst performance without question.

Compared to the the stock A13s - how much "better" are your suggestions.

BTW, I have about 20k miles on the stock tires and there is still decent tread...I think I just drive like your grandmother.

A friend of min got 20k out of his A13's. The car got coilovers and a real alignment with 100 miles on it. It was then autocrossed monthly. The stock alignment and freeway cruising is what kills the A13's.

Falken Azenis 615. Loved the grip and neutral balance.

That tire is FANTASTIC compared to the NT05. I got close to 30k out of them with several seasons of autocross and PLENTY of "highly spirited" driving.

Another vote for Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Great tire at the price point. Better grip than stock with similar steering/turn-in response. The X loves a stiff sidewall.

The latest Hot Boyz are the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and the Continental ExtremeContact Sport. Contis are cheaper by thirty something bucks each.

I agree that the Gforce comp 2 a/s is good for daily driving. I've had mine for a year and they still have a decent amount of tread left. They also do pretty well in the snow if you drive carefully. Drove up a snowy mountain with mine haha. About to take them to the track soon, so not sure how well they will do there. However, if you are just looking for summer tires I'd go with the super sports.
