I've never experienced that. Powder coating is FAR more durable than paint.

Wink It's Wheel Design Not Powder Coating that determins chipping.

Any Painted Wheel (Powder Coated or Conventionally Painted) will chip after "X" amount of Miles, especially if the Spoke design has the Spokes close to or beyond the edge of the Rim (Like the ADVAN "RS's" or "RZ's"). It also depends, in part, on how clean the streets are, in General, in your area.

On the total cost budgeting of your wheel project, don't foreget about the R&R and balancing of the wheels and tires which should be in the range of $25.00 per wheel and Tire combination in addition to the cost of the powder coating.

When I was in So. Cal I had several sets of wheels Powder Coated at "Olympic Powder Coating" and they did a great job. Just remember Powder Coating does not cover up any "Curb Rash" your Wheels may already have, so make sure you repair that before you have them Powder Coated.

That's 200 bucks per, another quote said 40-50 per... am I missing something? Powder coating is usually cheap where I am at. But I dunno about SoCal

You shouldn't be spending any more than $400 total (that's a high estimate) To have the tires dismounted, wheels powder-coated, tires remounted and rebalanced. $800 is a rip-off.

Got mine done at Worco Powder Coating in Long Beach. Cost between $75-100/wheel depending on color and it also includes bead blasting which many powder coaters do not do in house. Details here:

Try The Wheel Supply in Walnut. They did my RPF1's on my S2K flat black with time attack lip and it was flawless.
