275/35r19?

I plan on keeping my stock BBS rims as winter rims, so I'm looking to buy some Rays G-Games 19X9.5 5-120 40GMM for the summer.

Will 275/35R19 fit my Evo X MR and those rims above without rubbing or performance issues? Would I be better off going with 265/35?

is the 40gmm the offset? if so you want something +30 and lower. if you were to go 275's, i would say stick with 30 series tires. do you plan on lowering the car as well?

I currently have no plans to lower the car (though that may change eventually in the future).

I'm not sure if 40GMM is the offset, I certainly hope not. It seems +22 offset is a good size on the Xs.

Here is the link to the rim I'm looking at:

yup thats the offset, you will not want to run these wheels, unless you get a 20mm spacer

No wonder they're so damn cheap. I'll have to get them somewhere else then.

I know 275s would technically be the better tire with the wider footprint and all, but I just want to make sure I won't have any rubbing.

its more the tire height that will make you rub, like i said run a 30 series you won't have any problems, i run 265/30/19 on my m3

You need to consider stock tire height which is 25.7". If you look at the listed tires you will see that the 285 is the closest tire in keeping with the overall stock diameter.

245/40/18 = 25.7"
265/30/19 = 25.3"
275/30/19 = 25.5"
285/30/19 = 25.7"
275/35/19 = 26.6"

275 and onward you will rub big time!

****, so 275/30 will rub? I could swear someone on the boards was running a similar setup without rubbing.

likely on a 18... you'll definitely need camber + possible fender roll to run 275s.

I finally have the money to move forward on this, so I'd like the experts to flush out my best option.

Is this a better tire/wheel combo for STOCK MR suspension:

265/35/r19
Rays G-Games 19X9.5 +22 offset

With that combo is there any handling, rubbing, suspension issues? I don't want to put anything on the car that will be detrimental to performance. I certainly don't want any rubbing issues or fender rolling.

I feel like I've answered this question in another thread?

If you don't want to hurt performance, then don't put such a heavy, large wheel on your car.

Those wheels are 23# each (which is about 4# heavier than stock MR BBS wheels). Also a 19" wheel moves the weight out on the wheel which compounds the weight you have to move in order to move the car.

Plus the more low profile you go the harsher the ride.

Now they'll look sweet

goofygrin you seem to know your ****.

What is a good size then with a +22 offset that won't be detrimental to the cars performance or ride?

265/35/r19?
255/40/r19?
Stick with a lightweight 18" wheel if performance is your number one priority. If you must go 19" for looks (which I can't fault you) then you want something lighter. Look for a wheel that is 20# or less. They are not going to be cheap though.

And I'd go 265 width unless you want to roll your fenders to fit a 275. Nominal grip difference and a lot less fitment issues. Unfortunately 265/35/19 will jack with your speedometer and odometer.

Use this calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Also check the thread in the show-n-shine forum to see what others are running and what sort of fender work/rubbing issues they have.
