Best Performance Tires that LAST

Im torn between tires, my stockers on my X are shot at 7k miles, I am looking for a tire that lasts far longer than the stock but have comparable performance. Ive been looking into the Nitto NT01 and the Bridgestone Potenza RE01R but am unsure of how long they will last, the X is my only car and is my daily driver, I plan on Road Racing a few times a year, nothing too serious. I may pick up new rims along with tires as well, the Enkei GTC01 in hyper black, not sure of size, maybe 19" x 9.5 wide if this helps.

I'm on the same path as you. Mine's at mid 12K, and starting to show signs of abuse. Curious to see what others suggest.

Probably best to get some good street tires since its your daily driver. I don't think NT01's will last very long as a set of daily driver tires.

Check your alignment - zero out the toe.

R-comps should not be driven on the streets (NT01s).

Check out the Dunlop Z1 Star Specs. They were my AX/HPDE tire last season, and I DD on them.

I personally run 2 sets of tires. One set has all-season DD tires and one set has my HPDE/AX tire.

I have about 10,000 miles on my RE-01R's. I have about 20 drag passes on them, the rest of the time is street driving. I have about 5 to 6/32nds of tread remaining which I am extremely happy with.

The better the performance the shorter they last, this is the general rule of thumb/paradox regarding sticky tires.

I've autox'd with a lot of different tires and the one that stood out by far was the Bridgestone RE-01Rs (as far as wear is concerned). They're very grippy and have very gentle break away at the limit. For such a grippy tire, they last forever. The only thing I didn't like about them was that they seemed to hydroplane some - and this was at full tread. When my tires wear out, I'm going with the Dunlop Star Specs. They are supposed to have even more grip and cost less. I hear they don't last as long but the cheaper initial cost will offset that some.

I have 13k on my Yokohama Advens and they are still good. More than half the tread is still left. I don't Auto X but I drive it hard. I am getting different wheels and tires just for winter so I will concern myself now with all summer tires for summer.

To the OP and this is probably too late but one tire that comes close to the OEM Advans A13C is the Yoko S-drive. It has the same speed rating (Y) with stronger sidewall (97 vs 93) and has almost twice the wear rating (UTQG 300 vs 180) but costs half the price ($156 vs $320). I think the performance will be similar to Advans but a good DD that will last.

Later, Ken
