Just some helpful solutions for the "Squeal like a pig" issues I see people have with certain brake pads. Last fall I installed a fresh set of Raybestos ST43 brake pads for heavy braking at Watkins Glen road course and besides ending up with slightly warped rotors the brakes held up fine. However they were VERY loud and squealed like a pig hot and cold. The caliper grease I used basically burned up and had no effect after bedding in the pads.

Fast forward to this last weekend and this time I tried the following product:

Permatex Ultra Disc Brake Caliper Lube
High Temp Silicone Formula resists up to 550 F
Moly added for continuous lubrication and high pressure applications
May be used as a noise suppressor to eliminate caliper brake squeal

The fronts I placed this on the back of the pads and then the anti noise shims and they were silent as a track pad could be. The material didn't immediately burn off and is still effective in keeping them quiet on the street and we have had heavy rains the last couple days.

The rears I coated this on the back of the pads, then on the back of the Girodisc pad adapters, and then due to the pads already being worn down 1mm I was easily able to fit the anti noise shims in the rear with another layer. Likely you won't be able to retract the pads far enough to fit the shims on inside and outside pads in the rear until you wear the pads down a bit but you can always try.

I had my friend with his Evo 9 track pads coat the back of his pads and anti-noise shims and they were 95% quieter than before.

Hopefully my findings help those that are battling squealy brakes on their Evos because I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised!

better then Mu's and Hawks for sure. But remember these are high performance pads! They do make a dust.
Also no squeaking, or very very little some times.

Satisified makes the GS6 and GS5 compound pads. Both are streetable. The GS5 a bit better for track use. Both very silent and almost no dust. I'm running GS5's abd yes they make X specific rear pads.

Agreed, I have used Endless Vita Nuova, SS-S, and MX-72. Along with Project Mu, EBC, and Metal Masters. I'd have to say Endless is the best pad I've used. I will be only using Endless from now on. Is it worth the premium? That's your call.

This is becoming quite a tough decision... I'm leaning towards the Ferodo DS2500's but how usable are they when it comes to track days??

Endless also seems like an option, but who the hell sells them, or do you have to purchase directly from them??

great thread...im very interested as well. i have read many a "what pads are best" threads and this by far is the most informative and maturely responsive.

i have already purchased new slotted rotors for when the time comes, but i, too, am indecisive about what pads to get. i am leaning towards the Girodisc Magic pads. a friend of mine has the Vita Nueova pads and cant keep his rotors from warping. they are great quaility rotors-powerslot- but seem to just have problems with the pads?? i have used Hawk, Metal Masters, and a couple of others on my other cars. just reluctant to chose the "these work the BEST" because they may not be what i need or work for my purposes...

i'm using from endless very aggressive pads front and rear. Stock calipers and rotors. Only the break lines and fluid is changed/endless too/ My rotors are literally blue now. And many race miles in them with harsh conditions. No warping and anything like that. Your Friend maybe torque the wheels wrong, or something else. I have no issue with the pads.
But i'm not there so i'm just saying maybe there is another reason then a pads involved in that warping problem.

well, i dont think he is torquing the wheels wrong. he is a wheel and tire man for a shop. he knows the importance of proper torque of the wheels as do you and i.

it goes away once he turns the rotors, but then eventually comes back slowly. i also thought of perhaps it is the rotors themselves...?? they are powerslot-a reputable company. he has called them and they blamed it on the pads themselves. doesnt make sense...i have tried to rebed the pads for him also and it went away slightly and came back later after he drove the car about a month/500 miles. at 60 mph, the steering wheel just wiggles back and forth when the brakes are applied-kind of scary. when these wear out he says he will change to something different and perhaps get new rotors again....

excuse me guys, may you explain simply what you mean by :
1- "He cant keep his rotors from warping"
and
2- "he torque the wheel wrong"

excuse my stupidity

thanks a lot
(I'm thinking to order endless ss-h or ss-s..... the first is specific for brembro)
