Brakes Grinding?

I was wondering if I should bring in this issue to the dealership to see what they can do or if its not a big deal.

Basically the car when breaking semi-lightly or when its rolling slowly to a stop sounds like its grinding, very similar to the grind of having rust on the rotors after sitting overnight when wet and then hearing that initial stop to wear all the rust off. When its breaking harder or at higher speeds there is no grinding sound and sounds like normal (or I just cant hear it)

Is this normal or something I should be concerned with? I've inspected the rotors and they look fine. The car has under 2,000 miles on it so im certain it is not that the pads are that worn, they still are like new.

The only thing I was thinking was that they are just a little louder due to the composition of the pads or something but I thought id check here first before taking it in the dealer if necessary.

Thanks in advance

I noticed a grinding feeling under light braking also. I have almost 8k miles and my pads seem fine. I'm not sure if this is normal

have the dealer check it asap. mine was doing the same thing 680miles, i pulled the wheels to put my snow tires on, and found the left front brake pad was cracked in half and falling out of the caliper.

Little update, I had just went out last night and decided to try something new with the brakes. Since I hadn't actually pushed the brakes hard since purchasing it, I would brake hard from 60 to a roll a few times then let it cool off. Unless it's just mental, it seemed to help.

Does this make any sense?

Mine squeeks pretty high pitch at very slow speeds (when stopping at a light or stop sign). I also thought (and have been told) that it just needed to be heated up. So even after deliberately braking hard during my commute, it still squeaks. It's way too loud to be normal. Plus, it seems to only be the driver side front brake. Not sure it's related, but I'm lowered on Eibach Sportlines, and haven't had a proper alignment (scheduled for tomorrow). Thoughts?

I have that as well .... even on the same side, I think ... but it is hard to tell!!! The dealer told me that i was braking to hard .... I told him it an EVO and he agreed with my point.

They turned the discs and had a look at the pads ... told me all was well....

600miles later ... still squeaking and my discs look pretty rough!!! I think it is the pads .....

It is the squeaking when i'm driving that bugs me ... even at 70mph + ... if i tap the brakes, the noise goes for a few sec ....

I also get the grinding sound under very light braking. I think it started in the winter-time and I'm just assuming all the **** they put down on the road (salt and cinders) has something to do with it. ???

^^^

I'm thinking that's what it is mostly because its been a little nicer here the past 3 or 4 days and I haven't been noticing it as much. Not getting any squeaking at all though.
